Hi All,

An installer friend of mine has an elderly customer with a boat and is requiring a receiver that is really easy to use, so that would be Sky or Freesat.
  • Pace 1000 'javelin'
  • Any Freesat alternatives?
Thanks guys

Is the boat static or mobile? If mobile, there is not really an easy solution. If static, does the gentleman concerned have any knowledge of sat boxes, sky or freesat? Go with the one he knows, or if he has only ever had freeview tv I would suggest Freesat ( does not list loads of channels you cannot get )

Not sure on the boat have to check.
I agree with you a Freesat one would be highly preferable but it's identifying the models if any that do the lower voltage.

I am fairly sure the Bush Freesat HD box is 12v, too.

Looking at the back of the receiver it doesn't appear so, happy to be proved otherwise.

Useful.

Bush rear view shows it runs off a Power Brick, so will be 12 v.

I think the older SD boxes were direct to mains.
Have set up a couple of Bush models over the last few years but could not remember if they had external transformers or not. Guess they do!

Found a single tuner PVR - Humax HB-1000S Freesat HD.

Humax are far better quality than the flimsy, cheap and nasty Bush and Manhattan boxes, so for the extra thirty quid that would be a good buy.

Plus some kind of ability to record. I will stop the search now. I've advised to get the Humax. Will post updates if or when I get any.

Thanks guys.
