I was surprised at a big decrease of C -5 reception.
The 11305 H 27500 bunch just...vanished.
Have they changed any parameters?

Yes, they changed from DVB-S/QPSK to DVB-S2/8PSK

thank you...any idea why they did that? they were useful for rough adjustment of dish...

and PBS too? Damned ,culture evaporates!
DVB-S2 8PSK is more efficient than DVB-S QPSK. There aren't many transponder using the latter left at 28 E.

This is what AI says:

Choosing DVB-S2 8PSK over legacy DVB-S QPSK provides higher spectral efficiency, greater data capacity per transponder, and optimized delivery for high-definition (HD) and ultra-high-definition (UHD) broadcasts

We can only hope the extra data capacity will be used for a better picture quality, f.e. more channels in HD and a higher bitrate would be nice.

How come a "more efficient" system boils down to a weaker reception?

At the mo all of 'us'posters in this thread are outside the intended UK beam coverage, so an accepted reason . Happy we still receive it and definately better than in old Astra 2D days when many here (min 2.4m dish) had nothing!

it sort of came back thursday... maybe they fiddled with it. still weaker than C4,opposite to before.
