Also, before you do that, check your contract to remind yourself of what was "promised" in the context of Freesat/Sky reception in your flat - might be a "lever" to get the problem fixed (by a "proper" professional installer!) for both yourself and everyone else in the block.

Brand new twin shotgun type cable
From the wall plate to the humax

There is small possibility it could be cable but does not see to make any difference if I switch the cables around from the wall , still get freesat on both cables.

I would look very closely at the cable to make sure that the plugs are fitted correctly. Look especially for a bent centre wire (if it's the thin shotgun this is even thinner than normal) or a single wisp of the braid shorting out to the centre.

Not sure it is a cable issue

If I swap the cable over on the faceplate then do a factory reset it still says one cable found
If it was a physical cable issue then I would expect it to fail

Oh and the connectors are mould on
Not screw / push fit

Like most contracts
It does not go in to that level of detail about TV/ satellite
It just says tenant to ensure they have a TV licence

Can you knock the door of one of the other flats and ask to see what they have connected to the wall (and if it works)

Ply them with beer/wine, and ask if you can run your box up if there is nothing there except a TV.

After a bit of a effort what with cv19 and distancing

2 neighbors have confirmed the same issue
Also found this in a cupboard, which to me is a satellite splitter

Can this splitter be changed to allow two feeds , I suspect the answer is no

Not a good idea to use a dual DC pass splitter (DC path on both split output's) on a system if the LNB has single signal outputs that use +13 and +18 volts DC from the receivers to switch polarity's (H/V) from the satellite.

The two receivers attached would fight each other if one was trying for a horizontal transponder and the other was trying for a vertical transponder.

It might be a cheap way of combining two satellite frequency bands, one being shifted into the sub 1GHz band, but I doubt it very much based on the pictures earlier.

You really need to check with your tenancy agreement , then verify with the landlord/management company, see what was promised.

Seen something like this before in a block of flats where lowest bidder contractor installed 'two tv sockets' in every flat.

Both were full spectrum outlets so B2/DAB/UHF and sat on each socket. If you terminated one socket with UHF and tried to use a passive splitter to a Sky+ box the latter didn't work. For an extra £30 at installation said contractor would install a socket in the bedroom, that was nothing more than a faceplate and patch lead going back to the 'master' dual faceplate rendering Sky+ unusable at that socket. This was in Eastbourne but ISTR contractor were from up Milton Keynes way.

Any standard 60cm dish should do and use a 5x12 multiswitch which allows 2 feeds to each flat.

Sorry didn't read the first post of the thread. Get in touch with your landlord and complain about the satellite dish's perforance or lack there of.
