From 15-18 [14.00-17.00 UTC] on New Year’s Eve, DR will broadcast a mix of what has been sent through the station’s 96-years lifespan, in particular music programs but also historical radio clips about and from the station itself.
Exactly at 18 [17.00 UTC], Queen Margrethe’s New Year’s speech will be broadcast live, after which the well-known pause signal “Jeg drømte mig en drøm i nat” [I dreamed a dream last night] fades out and will mark the final switch off of the signal.

1521 - Flame CCR (religious / Wirral area) ceases Easter Sunday
 
855 Sunshine Ludlow closes on 19th. I tunesd the car radio into 855 this morning & to my surprise got a positive identification plus the retune announcement. Its a long way from Ludlow to Kelso!

I had heard a couple of years back that the cost of repairs and dry dockwere in the region of £600k, so there is quite a shortfall.
 
And another USA AM broadcast tower down - this time a backhoe caught a guy wire at the WNIX transmitter site & down it came :D (the headline says a concrete truck but the story was updated to say a backhoe caused it)

Carillon somehow lends itself to being misspelt, with people expecting to see a second "i" and it becomes Carillion. It would make a big difference to the pronunciation as well. Another one where that happens is Edision, the satellite brand, where people drop the second "i" to turn it into Edison.

"Carillon Radio may well have got its name from the Carillon Tower and War Memorial museum in Queen's Park in Loughborough. It was built in 1922 in memory of the town's war dead. It stands 46 metres high. In the bell chamber is a Carillon, a rack of 47 bells which are played by a clavier (keyboard) underneath."
 
All Radio 4 MW fillers will close on 15th April.

Effective 15th April, Radio 4 will no longer be available on medium wave. Medium wave listeners will need to retune their radio to Radio 4 on FM or DAB, or listen via smart speaker, BBC Sounds or digital television.

From an NI perspective, it's amazing to think that the three TX sites used to broadcast five services each on MW, but after Radio 4's MW switch-off occurs Lisnagarvey will be down to just two MW services (5 Live & Talk Sport) and Derry/Londonderry & Enniskillen will be down to just one (5 Live).

With skywaves can a signal be stronger further away than nearer the source? I understand that Radio Luxembourg had a stronger night-time signal in northern England than the south

You have the freedom to continue listening to the same frequencies, I can guarantee there will be something but you may need a bigger rig.
