astra 2F (channel 5) and astra 2E(BBC & channel4) still on 28.2(2F) and 28.5(2b)or not?

Hello you all,and a happy Spring!
I seem to keep having a very good reception of Channel 5 @11305H27500..AstraF?28.2?
AND a very unstable,unsatisfactory reception of BBC 1,2,3,4 these days.@10773,10818,10847 Astra E? 28.5?
I d like to reverse this,ie
lose channel 5 against improving BBC & channel 4.
Am I the only one noticing this?
I know it s seasonal ,however....
 
Move dish slightly to the East. Preferably while monitoring the signal level. I have a threaded rod from my lnb to a fixed point and adjust with wing nuts as required. Also check all the BBC regionals.
 
Keep in mind that Channel 5 is the last PSB broadcasting using DVB-S and a favourable FEC for easier reception with weaker signals. Can't be long before it switches to DVB-S2 though.

Thank you very much! At las now I know why i keep getting just the chnnel I don t need,when the better ones hide away after Mayday!

Adjust for best reception, tighten wing nuts to maintain position. No need to loosen pole clamps you are not moving it very much.

You are on the edge of Astra 2 UK spotbeam footprint. The C/N ratio of the downlink is dominant for reception quality here.

To add to that:
The minimal C/N ratio of the downlink to get an error free signal from ch5 is only 4.4 dB, BBC needs 7.9 dB.
So you need 3,5 dB more signal for BBC. But maybe optimising the disc will give a better signal.

Thank you,this is the answer i was waitinng for... then it s seasonal... usually it comes back after Wimbledon ,so 1 month to wait. But optimising my dish should reduce the "without bbc" period.Have you experienced reception in my area?

No, but judging from reports I've read on sat fora, it's quite an achievement to get the UK spot beam 700 km south from Paris.
You might also try another LNB, I think there must be LNB's that outperform the Inverto BU by now.

Here in Alicante UK spot beam ok from October to March so yes, 'seasonal'. LNB in foto above, Megasat Twin (red) is def one of the most sensitive....even on a 1.8m PF dish. :Y
 
I second that. The Diavalo twin( the inline not side by side one) gave me BBC channels that I could not get with an Inverto Ultra.

i have a schwaiger single. Had a black ultra before,lasted 6 months... and no better. 120 cm dish

My ch5 \ bbc levels (evening time, a dB or 2 better midday) > 28e levels in south france
