Many thanks for all that work !
Maybe I need to get a TBS5925 myself?

With a CM240 your KU beamwidth is 0.7˚. You should not get any interference from neighboring sats. The bigger the dish, the wider the angle.

Problem is that I may be on the wrong satellite - since there are no transponders locking I cannot be sure !

How have you aligned the dish? Is it left where it was from when it was picking up Astra 2A/2B?

It is more or less in the same position but peaked using the Satlook Spectrum analyser as the 2G transponders have been lit up; and the spectrum looks the same (but much attenuated) from my 1.2m dish when pointed at the old 28.2E location.
I think that I will only be sure what is going on when I have a TBS5925 and can further analyse the signals.

Blind scan + RF scan (5 mins ago) ......good luck with your trials. :)

I have now done readings with a TBS 5925 but am still not sure if I am pointing at 2G - what do you think?
A blind scan only locks one transponder at 11558.2H and the 11111H transponder is probably a data stream.
If this is not 2G what is it?

It's certainly not a UK/European 2G transponder. 11.553H 22.0 5/6 is broadcasting TV channels on 2G so there is no way 11.558H could be used. It's also ACM coding so won't be easy to pick up on home equipment.

I have also not seen any data on 11.111H as again 11.112H 22.0 5/6 is use for TV channels in Europe.

You must be looking at another satellite in the arc.

Any suggestions as to which satellite I am looking at ?

Yes, almost certainly 23.5ºE Astra 3B, for me the SR of 34286 gives it away. If you look at Flysat they list the SR of 34286 to 11633.

Had this SR on several occasions but no in depth scans recorded only that lovely radio channel with low SR and FEC....off topic but what the..... ¿¿¿??? :D

Best wishes to you.

Well spotted, that was one of the satellites I didn't look at. I'd forgotten it had good wide coverage that far.

Thanks - possibly the 11558H that I am locking is from the same satellite (Astra 3B and its middle east beam) but not yet documented. The 11633H looks to be the adjacent peak.

I have done further testing now using my 1.2m dish and positioner and am now happy that what I have been seeing at the presumed 3G postion is not Astra 3B. I get the same frequency scan at 28E on the 1.2m dish as I got on the fixed 2.4m dish and if I swing the dish to the east get Astra 5 at 31.5E and if to the west the Badr at 26.0E. When positioned at 23.5E I cannot get anything locking at 11633H.

Forgive my rush...not much time to 'search' but ¿do you have it confirmed that Astra 2G is indeed receivable in your location in Israel?

Perhaps you have colleagues or neighbours that can agree that it is receivable....check the official footprints maybe.

Best of luck with this........hope not so rushed later! respect-048.gif

I´m only a baby in this game, but , if I read your post correctly, you can see this across the board, which would indicate a local if problem.
Please advise frequency and symbol rate and I and others will take a look!

I can only see this at 28E at my location and I have now more carefully gone either side of this. There is nothing adjacent near 11558H and the signal drops off lock in the normal way as the dish moves. I do no think that there is anything local causing the transmission. I should have said that I identified the next satellite east as Arabsat 5A at 30.5 E rather than Astra 5 which is a little further over. By the time I have moved to either Arabsat 5A to the east or Badr at 26E the signal is below threshold. Maybe there is something else undocumented at 28E ? Can anyone else in Israel, Cyprus or Jordan also see this 11558H signal with symbol rate 34286 at 28E?

Geoffrey indeed this could be Astra 2E, that has a Middle East footprint.
And your 11556/11558 would fit one of its transponders, 36 MHz wide centered on 11555.
