Problem solved, normal service resumes

It looks like I might need a new lan switch or I need to crimp a new plug onto the cat5e cable.

Swapping to a new port fixed it for now but I'll sort it out when I find time to investigate.

10 meg connection faster than a supposed 100 meg connection - it's a joke, I showed the neighbour over the road the speed test when I went to use his wifi as a comparison and he giggled (it's his 10meg connection)

With a bit of luck they'll be carrying out work on the network or it'll be a fast resolved fault rather than an over subscribed UBR

Had problems with mine when Virgin first started me on 200mbps, was getting late 70s at most, but they were good as their word and within a couple of months they had improved the feed to the cabinet and now getting 200mbps for most of the time, they also reduced my bill whilst I was waiting.

Really don't need that speed and may look at reducing back to the 120mbps package next year if it's significantly cheaper.

I've got the 100mbps package at the min, I was on 200 but it was wasted as there was only one machine with 1gbps capabilities, when I get round to upgrading all my cabling, lan cards and switches I'll upgrade again
 
Was visiting friend of mine, measured speed of his connection. Download is smaller than upload cuz it was TV channel streamed at the time of test.

Seems that plusnet finally pushed me onto the 50/10 package after BT Wholesale dropped support for the 40/20 (which was just 80/20 with a speed limit applied), shame, I liked faster uploads...

FTTP for all is going to be a long way off while the BT-Openreach shareholder-pleasing based system is in place, after all, there are still oversubscribed FTTC areas where although it's in the area, people can't get it due to it not having enough capacity, so, they are lagging behind a lot for the majority of customers...
 


Upgrade with no price increase atm :)
 
ATM being the operative word, in any of its meanings!
