Dreambox 500 - JTAG Information

hello

i nead a help about jtag in dreambox 500 DVB.

i use jtag_windows.exe to load a new bootloader and everthing seems to be ok. but when i open the box it doesn't work. i supose that i load rong blimg but i can not found an other.

also i don't know if i make any mystake.

please help me!!!!!!

you need to be sure which Flash memory you got mate

if its INTEL te28F640 then use dreamflash for windows jtag program

if its INTEL js28F640 then you need to use DOS jtag programe

tested my self and its working like a charm

Before i take the showel and start to examine the piles of crap i have in my basement to find the harware for a jtag cable there is one thing im curious about.
Can one be sure its a timebomb issue? Or is there no way of knowing? This is my first db clone and ive always used other brands before so i dont know how the clone acts if its some other issue.

Is it as simple as if someone just cut the cable?

it needs some focus and you can make it , its not that difficult.

tools needed ,
1 LPT Cable
1 Serial RS-232 Cable
and an electric Soldering tool

and you're set , all the new gemini images have TimeBomb . so if you use gemini soon your DB will die and need the JTAG

Hi, i am looking for blimg for D500s Philips tuner, i downloaded almost everything what i found on this forum, but no success with flashing. My dead clone works if i flas blimg with alsp tuner, but no tunner is working.... i need correct blimg for Philips. Thank you for your links.

I use JTAG_Windows.exe i connect to the box i use the blimg file as a Tuner Alps
JTAG_Windows showing uploading after 3 min i had %100 complete until here program did not give any error ....

Problem when i connect the Rs232 cable using Dreamup V1.3.3.4 i have no connection to the box but any how i can see the on board Ethernet lights are on........

But no connection to the box ......any idea pls.....many thx

on DreamboxFlash windows program i have

====>cpu seems to be ok
===Memory Check****
=====>flash memory seems to be ok
status 0x80 OK
status 0x80 OK
status 0x80 OK

in the bottom i have %100 complete

let say if i have a problem on the flash why the program replay all ok ..this i dont understand??
 
I do not understand you. First of all JTAG is to repair boot section of the flash memory on the box. Boot is erased on clone boxes with Gemini image after 45 days if you dont have na original MAC addres. If you have any other problem with the box that's for shore not for JTAG.

now i connect the box again with jtag..but this time i run Dos version ......

information there Intel unknow......most like i guess flash is damage.....Dos program cant see the intel flash serial numbers

hello everybody on this useful forum
i have exactely the same problem ! DOS jtag works fine with me , but no possible connection with rs cable and Dreamup . i notice that the green led on the front of dreambox is on only when the jtag cable is connected to computer , otherwise no leds at all are on.
any idea is welcome ...

thank you for your answer , my problem is that after a successful jtag , i disconnect jtag cable, connect dreambox with rs323 , open dreamup ,but no success of detecting dreambox to flash a new image. i'am blocked ! help !
 
I have a problem with my clone DM500s. I had famous adios amigos problem. Then I flashed a boatloader with JTAG by parallel port with Dm500JtagAIO. It is an alps tuner so I flashed the alps version boatloader. Everything goes ok. Then i disconnect the JTAG and power it up again. But i cannot connect with DreamUp by serial cable. I have the correct null model cable and i also tried several dreamup version. I tried the latest version and also 1.2.1.5 and one special for dm500 DreamUp500.exe. I also tried several cables, all correct null modem cables. No succes. The green led is on when i power it up, but nothing reacts.

I do the correct order of first clicking connect and then power up the dreambox.
Please help what is the problem here???

can anyone help me?
i am trying to set the box up to reset itself to channel 301 when the mains go out.
we originaly set the box to reset itself to ch 305 and its still there.
i didn't write the information and there is a way.
some one said go to 301 and press the blue button
someone said press the power button
i wast there for 40 min and nothing worked

I have the same problem described in this forum. My DM500s is dead. I read several forums and I tried to upload a new image. I started to create a LPT cable and connect it to my DM500s (about 10 cm). Using jtag_windows and other jtag, I have the following error: Register Test Failed. Check cable connection.
I seen in some other forum that we can use DreamFlash for Windows v0.1
could someone give this tool (DreamFlash for Windows v0.1). Thanks for your help.
Does someone has any idea?
PS: I do not have tested using 100 ohms resistors yet.
