Dreambox 500 - JTAG Information

I may be wrong but didn't the pdf file say to connect all coloured wires to the soldered blobs? (where your grey wire goes to on that picture). I have just opened the pdf and that is where all the wires are pointing to.

freon might be able to clear it up more when he comes online next

I followed your method and exact pinning as written in first post by admin.
I tried many times but i get this message from the software:

Who claims to have repaired a clone with this solution says that tha cable shoudn't have more then 10cm
 
My cable is not more than 10 cm, and it does not work. Look at the photo above
 
Ok, just have a look to this post _h**p://www.sat-universe.com/showthread.php?t=65017&page=4 (I don't know if other boards urls are allowed)

There are guys that were able to JTAG their cloned DM500S but haven't got a working bootloader bin...
 
Cable wiring is the same as post #1. Additional info:

2) Computer and BIOS configuration:

BIOS COMPUTER **** LPT Printer ****ECP+EPP

Windows XP **** Contr.panel-System-Hardware-Device>Porten****Printer port****i never use an interrupt!

3) Start program ****Connect (important) When You hit the connect simultaniously place the power to dream.
No Connection, Try Again (again) ****Connect then (important) When You hit the connect simultaniously place the power to dream.
If you have connect ****(important) Write right dm500...bin for a boot of 500 alps (what must be all the clones).
(boot file for DM500)

After you can use standard DreamUP to put new image

Was it a cloned DM500S or an original one ?
Did you test your box after restoring bootloader : ie Network and tuner are OK ?

Can you tell us which binary file you used, and maybe give us an url to get it ?

Clone Dm500s....
2 different
one with yellow led in lan and one with green :)

Yes i test and work fine...
all channels is scanned and the network is ok

You can add a URL to a file, just disable it by adding and underscore before the HTML like this _http://www.somesite.com or use the
Code: 
 brackets.

If you have the bin file then upload it to somewhere like sendspace and link to it from here. :)
 
Hello,

I made the JTAG cable. But when the DM has to connect I get this message:
cpu seems to be ok (so this ok!!!)
memory check (But here it goes wrong!!!!)
Flash Memory ID's do not match! (should be 0x89 and 0x17)
Are you sure this is a Dreambox DM7000s?

Is this a know problem? Does somebody knows what I'am doing wrong?

nice one philip, some people have been saying jtag doesn't work. Your now the second person to confirm that it does on here, i noticed the boot loader you included is a different name, i don't suppose that will matter, but at least i can tell my mate it's the alp's tuner he needs to use and not the phillips one as he wasn't sure.

04--100r--07
05--100r--03
11--100r--01
25--------16 (Short circuit LPT 25 t/m 18)

Did you used the same connecting? Or do you know the error message?
Any Tips?

I got it working through the jtag connection too. I changed the compatibilty mode of the jtag program to windows 2000 & it finally connected. Anyone know how to change the mac address now?

yes this i use and work

check if you have this in your PC>

6 wieres + 5 resistors of 100 ohms
ON printer connector short connect pin 18 to 25 and connect the last wire.
rest of the wieres connect the resistors and use the schematics placed on the RDI.

That should do it!

and need to make lot of try to connect...
in some board i try 2-3 times and some other 20-30times to connect.

yes the file to use in all is the second all other to try is not work...
Need to copy this file in folder to use the jtag_windows and rename it as blimg
