Completed modules for Eutelsat Hot Bird 13F

Airbus Defense and Space has successfully completed the production of the first satellite based on the Eurostar Neo platform, successfully integrating the service and communication modules of the Eutelsat Hot Bird 13F satellite.

At the beginning of January 2021, the Airbus team in Portsmouth delivered the Eutelsat Hot Bird 13F communication module to Toulouse, where it connected to a service module manufactured in Stevenage and Toulouse.

The satellite Eutelsat Hot Bird 13F now begins its final series of tests in preparation for its launch. The planned position of the satellite is 13 ° E , where it will become part of the renewal of the Hot Bird series fleet.

With the new Eurostar Neo platform, the satellite's capacity will increase significantly. Eutelsat Hot Bird 13F and Eutelsat Hot Bird 13G will have an output of 22 kW and will weigh only 4500 kg at the start.

Airbus' Eurostar Neo platform was developed as part of European Space Agency (ESA) partnership projects, together with the French space agency CNES, and is strongly supported by the British Space Agency and other agencies across Europe.

Hotbird 13F & 13G are the two first all-electric satellites based on Eurostar Neo platform.
The two new generation broadcast satellites will deliver improved performances over the European and Middle-Eastern footprint, reinforced by a powerful European Superbeam.

So it takes a bit longer to reach orbital position with the electric drive.Screenshot 2022-07-27 at 21-38-00 Eutelsat Communications Full Year 2021-22 Results.webp

Maybe reply #10 explains it: an expendable falcon 9 can bring 13G to a better orbit, thus getting operational sooner with the lucrative EGNOS payload.
