Wonder if Grosjean had any calls from Gene this afternoon?

The Hass team didn't use any of it's development tokens for this year's car - so it's basically the same one as in 2020 - as they aim to use those for the 2021 car. Anyway, with 2 new rookie drivers who just need F1 experience, there was probably little point in using them anyway.

Im predicting Mazespin will cause a big accident tomorrow - hes a ruddy liability.

You maybe want to "volunteer" to replace him in the HASS ? - would get you to work "PDQ" (if you didn't total it on the first bend, as would most of us!) :D

Don't get me wrong about Mazepin as the "little sh1t's" Russki dad funded his career-to-date and then bought his seat at HASS! - but that was a pretty crap (for F1) car last year, and so it's relatively even worse this year!

Id get it beached on the speed humps along the works drive :-rofl2

I can see Gene selling the entire team to the Russians before the end of the season. His F1 adventure hasnt exactly been a stellar success over the last few years & it must be sucking out badly needed funds from the company.

From what I saw on Sky Sports F1 yesterday, the Russians have funded a large proportion of this year's budget and so maybe they will, or maybe Gene Hass will carry on with the team in his name in 2022 or even close it down completely - probably depends on whether Mazapin "junior" manages to make a decent showing, OR totals his car too many times this year.

Edited: Well, straight into the wall early on Lap 1! At that rate, the Hass team could be gone by the middle of the season because they don't have any cars left or the money to build more:rolleyes:

Does anyone know if tonight's Qulyfing in Imola is broadcasting FTA somewhere?
thanks

RTL 19E has race coverage??

I havent seen anything about them having it again.

RTL broadcasts the race live (with a lot of advertising)

Their contract was not renewed at the end of last season - RTLdecided it wasnt worth it. Presumably there has been a n outcry in Germany about the loss..

Looking at my fantasy teams, nearly all the changes I made either crashed or finished below who they replaced :-doh

Inrteresting article here about the effect on viewing numbers as F1 coverage has gone behind pay walls around the world:

Viewing figures are horrendously bad in some areas!

They reap what they sow, in a decade nobody will have heard of F1 unless they change something for the viewing public

Yup - It will be the same as the demise of cricket as a mainstream sport when it weny pay only. 25 years ago when cricket was fta everybody had heard of Botham, Willis, Holding etc. I couldnt name any of the international squads now for any country, its dropped right off my radar.

Having said that I enjoyed the live FTA channel 4 cricket coverage over the winter

In the not too distant future, Formula E will replace Formula 1. Nobody wants to be forever yesterday.

Despite the governments stated intentions to phase out pertol & diesel vehicles, it will be a very long time before electric cars take over from infernal combustion in everyday life. We dont have the generating capacity for everyone to plug their cars into the mains every night & unless a car can be topped off in 5 minutes an electric car is useless for long journeys.

Formula E has a long way to go before they can sustain F1 level performance for 90 minutes. The manufacturing of batteries isn't exactly green either. Hydrogen fuel cell, under track power or carbon neutral fuels are all a better bet for top level motorsport in the mid-term future in my opinion.
