Freesat App - Now useless - Have we been mis-sold!

Is anyone on here a user of the Freesat App. Previously brilliant, allowed you to browse TV when anywhere and set things to record on your box. Since June '24 the app just stopped working (it didn't tell you, I just noticed the recordings didn't show up on my box when I got home.

I complained to Freesat and got this reply:

"I understand and appreciate that the changes (removal of ID accounts in June of this year), which resulted in the remote record feature no longer being functional, has left you feeling unhappy about it. We have apologised for any inconvenience this may have caused you. There is no plans to reinstate this function, and no compensation will be offered. "

Anyone else bloody annoyed by this? Remote record is the main thing I bought my freesat boxes for. Now it suddenly doesn't work. Surely this is against trading standards? Haven't I been mis-sold the boxes I bought?

The app still indicates that remote recording is an option... it just asks you to log into your account (see screengrab), which you can't, because freesat have deleted all the accounts. It's just a shambles. Is there anything we can do about it? Is there only me that is annoyed about this?

You could try trading standards but I doubt there is much they can do.

Technology moves on - whats the big seller today is tomorrows e-waste.
 
But isn't tech meant to get Smarter...? I think what I'm really asking is does anyone feel the same.. if a few of us are in the same boat I'm happy to get onto trading standards. I only bought the boxes 18 months ago....
 
Tech only gets smarter if its profitable for the company behind it......

Presumably the actual satellite receivers still work fine - its just the convenience of the smart record app thats gone away. If you have your proof of purchase you could try returning the receivers to the retailer saying they are unfit for purpose but I have my doubts that would get very far.
