GTMedia GTCombo 4:2:2 receiver

I see this morning they have removed the ability to UPDATE ON LINE.

I wonder if any of you have tried MARS software in a GT Combo? Would it solve the update problem or will it bring other undesirable effects with it?

On my GTCombo & GTX Combo the two update screen prompts are still there and when clicking the 'On-Line' option it tells me that i have the current version as usual - i'll check it out further.
Re: mars , for me using the box for the main use of feedhunting i found mars to be not my choice & once you've installed it it's difficult to remove it and go back to original

Thanks John,

The auto update system has eventually worked here.

Thanks for your comments re the Mars software. I believe the auto **** system on mars is a subscription service. Another put off!

I also wonder whether the lack of auto **** is connected to the end of Windows 10? Or the server has been hacked.

The GT Media forum hasn't been available the last few days due to them not paying for some security certificate. Now its back I have just checked my GT Combo for auto**** and its behaving more normally. Its showing the correct message on the screen instead of SCRAMBLED. Maybe someone is trying to fix the problem.

A security certificate is AFAIK confirmation by a third party that the domain ownership is correct.
Leverage that has nothing to do with site authenticity in the real world, just 'give us money'.

I woud have thought production would have stopped a couple of years ago, seeing the manufacturer is no longer supporting the model, not just firmware upgrades but warranty replacement (and Android functionality).

It was a very capable machine for the price.

It’s an Android app. You have an Android box, the Combo. Install it from the Play Store on the Combo. You then have a server/client on the one box. If you don’t like it just uninstall it. Nothing bad will happen to you I swear. It’s another for playback of 4.2.2 streams.
I cannot get the GTShare to work for me on my tablet, the app does not find the Combo which is annoying. It is on a closed circuit wifi and the computer I have by the TV for 4:2:2 can see it via a wired connection to the wifi router. Should I be connecting to the Combo wifi or the wifi router? Any help will be really appreciated as I am struggling.
