Hellboy reboot - 15 years ?

I thought 30 years was a bit too short a time for covering old ground (Conan the Barbarian)

The original Hellboy came out in 2004 and was well received, so why make another one inside a generation ?

Are there no original scripts left ?

It wasn't meant as a reboot, was supposed to be the third film, but Perlman wouldn't continue in the title role.

Hellboy (2004) is known as Hellboy
Hellboy, The Golden Army (2008) was Hellboy II
Hellboy (2019) is not AFAIR known as Hellboy III nor has an official suffix, therefore it is a reboot.


What Rolf has mentioned is correct, the passage of time has been reset.
