Unless you have changed the default username and password, just google your modem.

Most people don't bothered changing them, they just plug it in, and it works, so that good enough for them. Not to mention the security risk. (But I am starting to go off topic)
 
My old openbox had a sticker on the bottom of the unit.

That had MAC address and serial number.
 
If you know the ip address, say 192.168.0.99
Run cmd.exe and type
ping 192.168.0.99
just that you know that it replies. Then type:
arp -a 192.168.0.99
and it should give you the mac address.
 
I don´t know the IP address and have spent about two hours trying to access the Linksys WRT54GL using all passwords I could find on the net, including holding the reset button in for 30 secs etc and nothing works. If I thought I could disconnect it and just out another router in it´s place I would, but I guess I´ll loose all internet if I do that!
 
Try, whatever you lan is and replace the last number with 255:
ping 192.168.0.255
It might not work, all devices doesn't reply to broadcast messages.
There are a lot of free port scanner tools.
Iirc, leave username empty and default password admin.
 
Tried everything, found the openbox IP in the network settings and tried to connect, it refused!
Giving up now, and have lost the will to try anything else.
 
Did not give up. Downloaded scanner tool and have found MAC address at last.
Will phone internet supplier tomorrow to try and get access to router, had enough for today!
 
It is a Cisco Linksys WRT54GL, and I´ve tried every code I could find on the internet. Tried reset by holding in the reset button for 10, 20 and 30 seconds, followed by power resets etc, etc. It will not reset to original password no matter what I do to it.
May try overnight in the freezer next!

Normally the sticker on the bottom will give you the log in name.

The latter would be appropriate for now, I´ve been trying to get into it for over 4 hours with no success at all. Just for the record, the IP is 192.168.1.1 not .0.1 and I also followed the other password link from that site as well as searching elsewhere for it.

Thanks for the thought though, as they say, it´s the thought that counts.
Not eaten since about 9pm the day before yesterday, so time for some food now!

Have you tried the DD WRT reset method?

Hold the reset button for 90 seconds, while holding reset, at 30 seconds pull the power, plug it back in at 60 seconds then let go of the reset at 90 seconds and let it boot.
The proper instructions say hold the reset for 30 seconds then while still holding reset, pull the power for 30 seconds and after plugging the power back in keep hold of reset for a further 30 seconds and it will boot into factory condition.
I find I sometimes need to reboot again after the 90 seconds, then I can login with the common or garden default logins found online

Did try that, had a problem installing the power cable with the pick axe in the other hand. :-toilet
 
Does this LNB voltage issue on Openboxes cause damage to the LNB on the dish itself? I have a V8S but now contemplating whether to replace it as my dish is way up high so would be quite the mission to get to if the LNB failed.
