My Satellite Setup
Arris 4k
My Location
Wakefield West yorkshire
We used to have the humax 1100s and when arris 4k came out we did the swap, we've had numerous exchanges due to the arris 4k giving up.
The current one works now , but I don't hold much hope.
What alternate is there to this that gives a good epg (for the missus) and records etc like the arris.
I've heard the name vu duo 4kse about and had a quick luck, but are these boxes plug and play like the arris and humaxs.

Thanks

Boxes like the Vu Duo you mention aren't plug-and-play and can have quite a steep learning curve, although you may be able to find sellers offering pre-setup receivers. There is a simpler alternative, have a look at this thread:

Thanks.

I've had a read up, but does it do series record etc like an arris box .
I have a 500gb ssd.
But reading up they don't seem to like ssd , is this still the case

Hi

No the Amiko is not as versatile as a true Freesat box, so doesn't do Series Record and I now use an ancient WD 250GB HDD as it is indeed a bit flaky with SSD (Mine came with an SSD but that's been repurposed as Backup for a Windows Laptop and is brilliant at that).

It's cheap and works well enough for me, but it is worth repeating - it is not a true Freesat box and won't suit everyone.

We rue the day Humax left the Freesat market

There were a few independent receivers that incorporated a decent EPG but were of their time.

Thanks all, that's a shame on series record as my missus relies on it.
Will have a think , but I bet she won't let us swap without that .
