how to install/upgrade starsat receiver?

Friends,

I am new to this forum and also new to this satellite types of discussion.
One of my friend gave a Startsat receiver for free.
due to some curiosity, i would like to upgrade the firmware or install a new program for the receiver.
now, how can i install/upgrade a software or firmware in the receiver?
How can i connect my receiver to my computer?
is only thru the computer i have to upgrade the software or firmware of the receiver?
now i have only one receiver? to do all the updates or patches what are all the things/hardwares/cables/softwares i have to buy.

As I am new to this field, please instruct me the step by step process to achieve my goal.

Yes, you can if you want. You have just been warned that if anything goes wrong you may damage your box.
Download the latest patch available from any of the sites listed in the first link Rolfw posted for you.
Then go and read this post

Are you can help me to download the software completely from computer to my receiver star sat 1500D ULTRA MK II if you know I have cable,software and computer but there is a problem which the loader was in active ( not work ) no proceeed
can you info me the steps as details,,,,,,,,,,thank you for replying me quickly
 
This thread is from 2007 so I doubt any of the members, who originally posted, will be able to help you.

the software update is from the USB(do i need to put the usb with software update .bin) or its from the internet(from the server it picks on its own)??​

Have you read the manual, or spoken to the dealer in your region ?
