I have been mulling over for weeks whether to buy a DM 8000. Read loads of posts, looked at dozens of reviews and decided to go for it. I am hoping to get a few quid back from gear I may not need now. Looked for the best price and reviewed the sellers where possible. Decided against a clone but was amazed that no one appears to be open in the UK to take my order. I thought this would be a busy time for them with all the cash presents given.

congrats

how much did you get it for? and where from? Original or clone (not sure after reading your post which one you opted for, i'm thinking original)

happy new year to u too

Went for the origina DM 8000 from Germany.
A. They were open and they despatched today. Used them before for my 36v motor which went haywire after 11 months and they exchanged it and paid for the postage.
B. Got a 24 month warranty.
C. £835 delivered.
I must admit I prefer to buy in the UK but I tried 3 places today and all were answerphones. I rarely buy anything which cost hundreds over the web without speaking to them first. Its also a £60 saving which will buy an extra tuner later.

excellent!
i'm sooooooooo tempted too,
which box did you have prior to the dm8000 (as in currently? :p) ?
the dm800 ? If so, let us know the differences you feel between both

i'm very satisfied with the dm800 but the 8000 looks sexier :)
however, not sure if the dimensions would suit me, as the 800 is in a cabinet hidden and don't think the 8000 would easily fit in that cabinet

anyhows, back to you, let us know when you get it and post some first impressions in the setting up

I still have the Technomate 6800HD which I never really got into due to a couple of family bereavements and a boundary dispute. I spent a bomb on a good setup, best cable run in conduit, 1.2 Andrews dish, Jaeger motor so I am looking forward to getting going and learning.

i have both the dm8000 and dm800 and i must say the 8000 is miles ahead of the 800, speed is one main thing i notice, navigating the menu's is so much quicker. Also the dvd player/writer is great, can put music cd's in and play them, i even put mkv files on the HDD and it plays them no problem, even 1080p ones.

excellent oakey
i think the 2 in 1: satellite and dvd player is great
would be even better if it was bluray player and satellite :)
i'm sure it can handle bluray, just not got the drivers yet, right?

as for mkv, i've thrown them on my dm800 without issues too
happy new year
