Intermittent audio dropout

Sorry you also have this. I have to say their support is awful. The two main reasons I got this box were to use the app, and because it worked with Dolby. Neither are true, and their only response for months has been 'yeah we know it doesn't work and are working on it'. Been like that for about 18 months since I bought it.
Great news Guys.
I followed some of the suggestions here and it has sorted out the problem fully.
Just go into Freesat settings in the box. Change the audio out to stereo instead of the other options and voila! The problem is no more.
I hope this helps some other people who have this annoying problem.
Thanks to all of you for your support.
I now just need to work out why my amp turns on after I power off my TV, Box, and Amp. it happens around 5 minutes after power down and finally shuts down for good a few minutes later, but that will be another forams issue, not this one I would suspect.
Peace.

That is awful, but sounds par for the course nowadays. If the box has an inherent problem in that it says it will do something it clearly doesn't then your beef is with the seller of the equipment you bought the box from not the maker. I know that may sound odd but as you paid a vendor your contract is with them and also jointly if you used either a credit agreement or used a credit card as either part or full payment so long as it is over £100 spent on credit.
If it is over a year old it doesn't matter. The equipment doesn't do what it should.
Any questions you may have on this, just give me a shout or look on the Citizens Advice Bureau, Section 75 Consumer Credit Act, Sale and Supply of Goods Act.
You may find that you can legally fire a rocket up the vendors backside to get this sorted or who may after a small fight refund or replace or even find a work around to your satisfaction. As mentioned, you can also get hold of the credit situation you used and they will put pressure on both the vendor or/and the maker of the device to do something. It may take a little work your end, but if you show you mean business they will act.
Good luck

Hi, I too have the exact same problem. Wideband LNB (new), Freesat recorder (new), Denon AVR (new) and Sony TV. Mine all started earlier this year when my Humax recorder reported it had stopped receiving a signal. A quick check from ground level showed the satellite dish still pointing in the general direction so my first thought was the Humax. I have had Humax recorders Freesat and Freeview for many years now and always been happy with them but of course they no longer build them. So off to Currys and bought a Freesat recorder. Plugged it in and same problem so called the dish guy who replaced the LNB and showed me the old one which appeared to have self destructed. So all was now well with the new box but when I retried the Humax it still says unable to receive a signal so I guess when the LNB blew up it took the Humax with it - so be it. Round about the same time I had decided to replace my Onkyo AVR with a new Denon. Then I started noticing this audio drop out problem. At first it seemed to only be on live sports broadcasts and I put it down to an issue with the feed, but now I notice it on all prorammes. So now I had a real problem identifying the cause of the problem as I had replaced so many things. A quick google search brought me here this morning and I'm so glad I did! I've now changed the HDMI audio output setting to Stereo on the Freesat box as per advice given on here and hope that's an end to it. Maybe the Freesat folk will bring out a firmware update to cure it so fingers crossed till then. Many thanks.

Unfortunately I wouldn't hold your breath. They confirmed to me they know about the issue last September (see my earlier post in the thread), but it was not addressed in the Feb firmware update. The other issues re: playing back recordings when it sometimes either jumps back just after starting or jumps back to live TV are both still there and have been sincce I bought my box 16 months ago. If they could fix all of those I would be pretty happy - everything else seems to work fine

Just to note the Humax boxes do not work with wideband/Sky Q LNBs (unless it's a hybrid LNB ). It may still work when used with a universal LNB.

Ahh thank you. My box does both those things too, pretty annoying but nice to know it is another known issue - please bring back Humax!

Thanks Ozumo, that's interesting to know. Of course I've no way of testing it on my set up now. I still have the Humax connected to my AVR as I have old recordings which I'm slowly going through.
