Hello everybody,

In the near future I'll have some money, and I want to upgrade my equipment, since my receiver is about 10 years old.

I looked at Ebay, and I've seen that the Skybox (and Openbox too) is not so expensive, and they are HD receivers.

But, before throwing some cash buying one of these, I want to know if the Skybox is a good HD receiver and it's worth my money :)

Absolutely. No doubt about it.

yes just make sure you don't get an Openbox x5 or a Skybox f6.. These are fake and there is very little support for them. I can only recommend the f3 as it's the only one I've used (other than the x5) but I believe the f5 runs the same firmware.

I have an Openbox S10 - I bought it last year and am pretty happy with it, although the F3 was readily available at the time and would have been a better choice it was quite hard to find comparative information about the two.

Ive said before copious times they are just excellent value for money.

I've tested 5 openbox/skybox receivers and I would have to say that the F3 is the best of them all, stay away from the X5 and S16.

I've owned the Skybox F3, M5 & F5. All 3 are good receivers.

For what they're capable of you can't be robbed for the price.

I much prefer my DM800 but at the end of the day that was 4x the price. They're brilliant bits of kit once you get into them.

At long last, I won an auction for a Ferguson FK 8500 HD :)

Is it good?
