I never got into studying that again, because in POSITIONER APPLICATION NOTE VERSION 1.0 they wrote:
Command byte ‘6E’ is not yet fully defined, but will normally use two data
parameter bytes. At present the command is defined for control of a terrestrial
antenna rotator, e.g. for the azimuth of a horizontally-directed Yagi or
microwave antenna.

But I now understand that this is for full 360 degree rotation (hence they write 'east' and 'west', not 'left' and 'right'?!?)

You say that SF8008 uses this commandset?

E0 31 6E 00 00 (0 ° ) goes to north (0°), or to south (180°)?
(The convention should be useable for both northern and southern hemisphere, I find...!)

I would like to thank my friend @dreambox1959 for making the positioner, on time as he promised. The package arrived at my address. When I have some free time, I will also test it. I have 2 small children and so there is very little time for any serious interventions on the systems .one more big thank you.

That brings me back a few decades to see the craftsmanship invested in that piece of equipment. Imagine the Asian equivalent these days of something like that. Truly a labour of love for the hobby.
 
I hope your project will succeed, but I built the positioner with the classic hardware + the second diseqc output.
you can always (by changing the firmware) return to a configuration with two actuators.
 
We'll see. Mainly, if not before, I'll test how it will work in practice during my vacation, but I don't think there will be any problems, considering that I already have a gibertini 150 system made, which is powered by a Diqec motor for the last 2 years and works as it should. I look forward to the challenge.
 
where are you with your project?
did you install the positioner?
 
At the moment, the project is waiting for my free time. The positioner is also in the package as it arrived. I will let you know when things start running.
