Hi,
I have been looking through the forum trying to find an answer for myself but i´m baffled to be honest, i´m looking for a recommendation for a meter, one with a tv screen in it. Sorry for being vague/ sounding stupid (i don´t know the correct terminology)

It´s going to be for my dad who is moving to Spain and wants to earn some beer money doing realignments etc. Obviously he will practice a lot before actually going out to do it.

He said he wants to buy something half decent, and has a budget of upto about €500.

Can anybody help me at all please. :)

500 euros it's plenty beer money ... buy a satlink for 100 euros and drink the rest

With that budget, a meter with NIT readout.
Maybe a second hand spectrum meter. Lots of info on the forum.

Is he aware that alignment of dishes in Spain for UK channels is going to be a lot different to aligning small dishes in the UK? Dishes in Spain will vary from 1 m up to 2.4 m and above depending on where exactly in Spain and with these alignment can be a matter of deciding which channels are most important and aligning for them. The four satellites at "28E" actually vary from 28 to around 28.5 E and the larger the dish the more difficult (as it focuses more tightly than smaller dishes) it is to achieve a compromise between the "required" satellite and the other 3. Has he only had experience of Sky/Freesat installations in the UK as he really needs to practice with larger dishes on some of the more difficult satellites in the UK beforehand.

Four Satellites?

2E, 2F and 2G ..... and ??

A technical fourth then!

Eurobird went to 33e last July, although i stand corrected Astra 2A does appear to be still at 28.2e.

I really should wear my glasses when i go on the forum :-lmao

Thanks for all your replies. Yes he is aware of the differences in Spain. I also have a small amount of knowledge about the dishes and alignments and I already live here so he can practice on my/ my friends dishes.

Practice what exactly? Ballet, Yoga, etc......
I know nought about this, but judging by the equipment you list in your set-up, don´t think your too far from me.
If he needs advice, he can find it here on the forum, especially here...

Installing Dishes In Spain for 2E Chit-Chat

I have no fear of competition, just dislike incompetence !

Happy to help if required:D

Well considering somebody further up the thread said he needs to practice aligning on bigger dishes, this is what I was referring to.

But cheers for the link I shall have a look at it.

But to be honest it's not the setup I need help with. I need help with finding a well recommended sat finder.
