Has anyone experienced loss of Astra 28 recently......my Mobilsat unit seeks but fails to lock on.

Does the Mobilsat have a model number? If it's an older model it may only support DVB-S transponders, many of which have now changed to the newer DVB-S2 modulation.

Are you getting any HD channels or are they only SD channels?

Hi and thank you for your swift response!

There doesn’t appear to be a model number save for the fact that the user manual quotes there is automatic tracking with DVB-S and DVB-S2 systems able to manage H.265 HEVC codec.

Mobilsat was a product of the Italian company Mobiltech but seems to have closed down sadly.

FYI the system locks onto Hotbird.

Does that help?

The Mobilsat devices I have seen don't have a satellite receiver, they have an antenna control unit only, you have to supply one that is compatible.

Thanks Channel Hopper but this thread relates to the failure to lock onto the Astra 28 satellite rather than its reception (although that's important once locked on!)

FYI I am using an Avtex TV with combined terrestrial and satellite inputs.

What are your current settings on the Mobilsat for 28°E? It may be looking for a transponder that has changed parameters or been switched off.

How is the ACU going to find any satellite if it has no reference from the tuner ?

If it is locating 13East I would assume this was the primary reference point for the software, any other position is derived from it (or has to be programmed manually).

My Mobilsat system has a control unit which is preprogramed with parameters for 16 satellites, including ASTRA 28. It also has four spare memories for additional satellites if new ones become available. Most (I haven't tried all of them but Hotbird13 DOES lock on) of the preprogramed satellites lock on, but not Astra28 now so somethings changed!
If I use the Hotbird13 as an example and call up the parameters the control unit is using they are as follows......
Frequency 1127873
Baud 27500463
FEC 3/4
V
DVBS2

I can't seem to relate these Hotbird13 readings with anything published by, for example, www.kingofsat.net or indeed www.lyngsat.com

What am I doing wrong?? :-(

It sounds like it is locking on to Hotbird transponder 4 - Freq 11278 V which has a of FEC 3/4 and SR 27500.

Can you find out what Astra 28 transponder it is trying to scan? Most of those Astra transponders have changed configurations over the past year.

I'm afraid we are misunderstanding........my system allows parameters to be entered rather than scanning. The Hotbird13 parameters quoted are the settings preprogramed by the factory.

Check the dish is locking onto the correct satellite by locking and then scanning the frequency with your receiver when the channel list comes up it should match with the relevant satellite. If it doesn't the the dish is pointing to the wrong satellite then it would be something electrical or mechanical.

What are the current parameters for Astra 28E?

I understand that, but you need to find out what parameters your antenna is trying to search for when looking for Astra at 28E. If the parameters for Astra 28E are wrong it'll never find the satellite.

Hi did you have any luck on updating mobilsat I’m having same issues

Sadly no! I did get hold of someone who claimed to own once the now defunct company but was advised that no parts were now available since closure.
Mysteriously my dish does now lock onto Astra after playing around with the settings.......what issues are you having?

Had the same issue, but been playing around and input new 28E settings in , then found the LNB was at fault, tried an old one then bingo straight on it. was expecting to get new dish, so happy days.
