Need a power supply, one off

220-240V ac input and 48V, 3A output, preferably terminating in the standard plug that normally sits on a 12V psu, though I have loads of those I can cut to suit.

A client has a security camera system where the original has - almost certainly - burnt out, the forums I have read mention the standard fitment is underpowered and runs warm.

I've looked in my box of parts and can only see larger supplies that run 36V but no more (though i'm sure there is a printer or possibly a games console that functions on this voltage) . What would normally need a 48V supply that is domestic/semi professional that I could substitute for a week or so until I source a replacement ?

Do rack mounted servers have a voltage rail that comes close to this ?

Before you go searching, I did look on the auction site, the 48V ones are actually 36V and the Amazon advert for a 2A version has very poor reviews.

Here is another source. I do you need a DC output? As the only 48 volt CCTV system I ever came across was 48 volts AC.

Something from the telecoms industry ought to work, a lot of exchange hardware works on 48 volts DC, you could even pick up an old GPO or BT branded power supply which would outlast anything modern...

I might consider buying something like that, but looking for a weeks quick escape, was hoping the 48V might trigger an idea for stripping apart another piece of equipment I can put in place whilst some proper kit is on order.

Maybe a spare PoE switch which you could "rewire" to have a single 48V O/P - and then "demod" when it's not needed any more?

Connect 4x 12v power supplies of some description in series to give the required 48v for a temporary lash-up?
