New Del Boy comedy, Rock and Chips: where does the title come from?

Either it's Fish and Chips. Or, Rock and Roll.

How come, Rock and Chips???

Anyone know?:D

PS. On tonight (Sunday), BBC1, 9pm.
 
A southern favourite is huss aka rock salmon....hence rock and chips
 
Not just Southern - ubiquitous: It was originally a cheap substitute for those who couldn't afford Cod.

So I imagine the point of the title is to indicate that the roots of the Trotters were humble.

Now back in favour with the devout ecomentalist set.

I "recorded" it onto DVD.

Finalised it this morning and discovered upon playback that the disc was totally blank!

The only scheduled repeat is early next Saturday morning , "signed".

We'll live without it, I guess.
 
BBC iPlayer?

Even at 512Kbps the LQ version should be OK
 
Yes, thought of that, but 512k is , errm, peak here (On a good day).

iPlayer isn't viable in practice. Tried it a few times.

Fortunately there's more to life than the odd missed programme!
 
I thought it was ok. Was it a one-off or is this a new series?
 
It's quite likely that it'll roll out into a series if the response is good enough although I've not seen anything written to suggest that.

This early prequel has been promised for a good few years now, about since the end of the original series.

I haven't seen it yet as it's on the PVR and I've got a load to catch up on after being away this weekend.

Rock Salmon otherwise know as Dog Fish (yep huss is in the family) = poor-man's Cod...lot of Chipper's use them...ye never know what yer eating!

It's been years but I seem to recollect that Huss has a rather stringy/gristly meat. Isn't it a member of the shark family and therefore has cartilage rather than bone?

I know the feeling of 'blank discs.' :(

As regards Chips and Rock, I thought it was okay. Better than that Dreadful Green Green Grass.
 
I don't know, me and the boys were watching green green grass and again I thought it had some funny moments. Maybe not great but definitly watchable. Compared to many other comedies it is not that bad. Maybe I am not that sophisticated but I rather watch that than the other dreadfull dross that is on there.
