New NS2000 (NS3 / NS4) thread

Thanks for the explanation.
I meant dvbS2, some of the old meters on the sale site are only DvbS.
There are some promax meters with DvbS2 for under 500 gbp.
Will have another look.

The DVB-S and DVB-S2 only come into it when you proceed to a detailed exploration of a specific carrier for its parameters..
For example, if the meter is DVB-S only and you try to get specific carrier details such as FEC, Modulation etc from a DVB-S2 signal it may not be able to read that specific carriers parameters.

This has nowt to do with an L-Band RF spectrum scan where all you are looking for is peaks, you are not looking at extracting carrier parameters from a specific peak, you are just sweeping the spectrum to see what is present.
There aint any meters that I am aware of that can read Novelsat modulation so you can forget about sucking the juice from a Novelsat peak in a spectrum analyser sweep. All you are looking for is peaks that may be contenders as Novelsat.

Vito who is a member on 'ere ( @vma ) designed a great PC spectrum analyser app, cost me less than a bullseye for all the bits and a small donation to him for the license.
It can show Novelsat peaks in a spectrum, reet tasty little PC app it is, well worth the green.

If you gonna wad out for a spectrum analyser it might make more sense to look for DVB-S2 capable just in case you wish to use it to get carrier parameters.
There is not much DVB-S stuff compared to DVB-S2 nowadays, it really just depends on what use you may have in the future.

I am no expert on these gizmos by any means, far from it, I can just about get by.
The real gurus are the wavy line men who live in a section of the forum dedicated to meters, these are the experts to ask for info on spectrum analysers, link to where they live is below.

is NuemoDVB worth building just for blindscaning NS or it that also hit and miss? reading the thread is see there was some scans that were getting close with the tuning details.

It definitely seems worthwhile, some forum members have had success with nuemodvb using TBS cards that have S2X capability.
One forum member used his own custom drivers and managed to extract accurate SR's with a fairly basic DVB card.

From what I have seen, the SR's from scans with nuemodvb using stock drivers are not ultra accurate, they are reasonably close, close enough to use with a stepping analysis.

NuemoDVB is the same as other scanners, it can identify contenders but cannot say "this is definitely a Novelsat feed".
Only the Novelsat demodulator can say that, when it Syncs and Locks the feed.
 
Yesterdays Novelsat feed on 4157V from 100.5E (reply 358) has now gone and been replaced with one that looks like the one that was up a few days ago (post 357)
It seems that the EBU Hypermux at 4077V is a 24/7 permanant feed but there are various temporary Novelsat feeds being uplinked at higher frequencies on vertical polarity.

An AVCOM spectrum analyser picture of the Novelsat feed at 4175V from 100.5E is attached below along with scan pictures from CtazyScan and IQmonitor.

Yes, 4077 V (or 4080 V 70000) is 24/7 permanent feed from EBU, codename is Hypermux-1 (HM1).
4175 V 3XXXX and 4157 V 3XXXX will be active if the slot on the 4080 V is full.

Ah, thank you for the explanation and for taking the time to contribute to the topic.
So the 4157V and 4175V feeds are also EBU feeds but they are temporary and used when Hypermux-1 is at full capacity.
From my scans I estimate the SR of these two feeds to be 35284 ksps or very close to that?

As soon as I have access to an NS3000 on site at the dish location I will be able to get better values for the frequencies and SR's via the Sync and Lock offset ppm's.

I am not sure if I have personally seen the Bundesliga before on a Novelsat feed.
It has almost certainly been reported in the past?

Yes, with one of the NS3000 units.

I noticed from the batch of NS3000 I bought that they have different licensing regarding bit rate and symbol rate.
All other licensing of the batch was identical, the only variables were bit rate and symbol rate.

I was referring to the fact that in my personal tests the NS3000 units that were bought from the USA eBay seller can cope with the bit rate of the EBU Hypermuxes.
EBU HM-6 from 10.0E Syncs and Locks OK with all of the NS3000 units I bought from the USA.

I made no reference to having pictures or anything to do with the EBU DRM, I was referring to the bit rate licensing being OK for a Sync and Lock of HM-6.
 
Not sure that the HM-6 has no DRM in it.....
Maybe when you made your tests you was so lucky that the transponder was not DRM-protected in that moment.
It never happened to me. Bad luck.

just tested UHD, not exactly must see tv but works like a charm. QVC UHD no dropped packets. Is the Roll off ignored? i tried it at .20 and .35dekuhd.jpg
