My Satellite Setup
fixed,polar mount and C band dish.
My Location
south africa
As a matter of interest ,using a polar mount and setting the dish exactly to the requirements for one,s earth position,will the dish track the Clarke belt with out having to make any further fine tuning necessary.
 
You will need to have the correct declination for the location as well.

Not all satellites are geostationary so these will need a second actuator to track.

You mean fine tuning the positioner? My experience is the positioner always gets out of sync over time. And also most have a bit of free play, so not perfect, but usually good enough to open a channel.

Another question ,how do I ascertain the correct declination angle from the Dishpointer web site.

Why do you need a website?

Set you elevation at 90 minus latitude. e.g. London is at 51.5 north, so 90 - 51.5 = 38.5º. Then point at your southern satellite and adjust the declination for signal.

The gentleman is in South Africa, so I imagine his Northern satellite might be key.
