Advice Needed Positioner + multi lnbs setup with 1 tuner ?

I changed recently my Vu+ Duo with 2 dvb-s2 tuners by a OS mini 4k with 1 dvb-s2x tuner.

My setup with Vu+ Duo was:
- positioner on tuner 1,
- 3 lnbs with diseqc on tuner 2 (using another dish)

3 lnbs for "daily" sats Astra/hotbird/Thor to avoid moving the other dish all time.

Is there a way to do the same on OS mini 4k single tuner ?
 
You could cascade switches but you'll need a DisEqC 1.1 uncommitted type in the way to switch between the existing 1.0 switch and the positioner. You then connect your existing 3 LNBs with the 1.0 switch to the 1.1 to daisy chain them.


There is a possibility of burning out the 1.1 switch driving a motor through it but I've not had issues in the past.

If your tuner can manage giving a diseqc switch command and diseqc motor command in one diseqc command run, there is no problem whatsoever. (Normal receivers would be able to do this, I think (my receiver does). However, there seem to be TVs that don't support this, I heard? But I cannot confirm.)

Several options for the motor:
1. splitted off directly after/before the receiver: split to motor and split to 4/1 diseqc switch (or switch cascade) (you need a splitter with power-through the correct direction, though, and they are not always easy to find). This is my favorate solution.
2. receiver - motor loop through - diseqc 4/1 switch
3. receiver - 4/1 switch - with motor in the path to motor-LNB.

When you have just 4 LNBs in total, there is no need to cascade switches.
When the dishes are far apart, though, cascading switches might be practical.

Is there a risk for receiver or vbox if I try these 4 lnbs together on my diseqc?

No, not at all. The V-Box does not need much electrical power via the coaxial cable, so no problem at all.

Be carefull: Many power pass splitters have diodes, and most of the time the diodes are the other way round as what you'd need in this setup.

The Spaun VBE-2P splitter (NOT the VBE-2PD !!) however, would be perfect.

These might also be good (not checked!): Dynaflex S-222 or Dynaflex S-202

Also: KSP2FRPP 2 Way F Type Splitter 5-2400 MHz Reverse Power Pass (but you don't need those reverse diodes!)

I myself use a König FC-2SPLT-KN for it, but it is specified 5-1000 MHz (though I have no troubles at all).

I also found these splitters on the internet, that should do the job (though you never know if the information or the pictures on the internet are completely trustworthy);

I would chose the cheapest (these high prices are often because people want them ASAP). The choice is yours.

By the way: You could test-wise use a simple T-piece. It might however cause some impedance mismatches.
On the other hand, I've read about problems in setups where the loop-through of the V-Box is used, so I don't know which is the worst alternative....

Especially practical, when the two dishes are at different directions from the receiver.
