Power plugs

can anyone help me with the name of these power plugs please?

I have purchased a linear power supply for my project tube box s, now I need to find the correct plug both ends.

Finding it hard to find as I don't know the correct name for them.

It's not just the name, but the various diameters.

I replaced one on my Netbook Charger and it was hard work ploughing through all the options.
 
I would call the DC power plugs, although there absolutely no reason they cannot carry AC - as the PSU for my satellite meter in fact does. The correct name is a cylindrical connector.

The important dimensions are the inside diameter, outside diameter and length of the plug.
 
Sorry, Chris: "DC Power Male Jack Connector" is the generic name used by most suppliers.
 
It's 5mm wide and 10mm long, I can only guess at the hole centre diameter, both ends need a different diameter centre.

Might have to take a walk around somewhere like maplins.
 
Oh yes I have one of those variable voltage transformers with multiple option terminations, you can arrange them for +centre or -ve centre by rotating the connector into the socket and the transformer was adjustable from 1 to 15 v, really useful piece of kit i used to keep in my van. It was great as I could usually get whatever kit that was involved up and running and then return when the correct spare was either located in my limited stores or purchased from a supplier, indeed I still have it somewhere, I think.
 
Simple question: what is the voltage and current of the tube box s that you want to power, because that will mainly determine the type of plug on the end of the supply lead (which is normally attached to the actual PSU)?
NB: I think there is probably an IEC standard which gives the standard voltage/current/plug combinations!
Also, look at the rating label and tell us whether it shows the +V connection is to the centre pin or the outside of the connector of the box power inlet.

Tell us that and I/we can probably tell what you need to look for?;)

Managed to sort a lead out using some plugs from maplins.

The power supply is faulty the dc output has nothing just the ac output :(

The tube box s takes 18v dc 1.0 amp.

As I said, look at the rating label and tell us whether it shows the +V connection is to the centre pin or the outside of the connector of the box power inlet.
Then on ebay you can find a range of suitable PSUs, e.g. 18v 1.0 in Computers, Tablets and Networking | eBay.

PS: many laptops use a 19V o/p PSU, and that should be fine - the voltage difference is negligible!

PS2: and, Yes, I know you have found a suitable connector!

I have the linear supply already, I just needed to make the cable up for it, just waiting for the eBay seller to get back to me.
