Flysat lists this Moroccan radio station as being on Hispasat 30W -

11695V DVB-S 185 3/4

Can anyone lock this? My TBS6905 card should theoretically be able to lock it if the signal is there/strong enough, but with the super low symbol rate I think it would need the frequency to be pretty accurate (to the fraction of a MHz), rather than just 11695.000, where I don't get a hint of anything.
 
Can't get it with those parameters on the 80 cm dish, but if the same as a station from Casablanca, it is on TuneIn radio

That's the one I think yes!

It's more out of interest in whether it's actually there on Hispasat, I don't know much about the station itself other than it being a Moroccan FM network (I would guess that if it is on 30W, this would be the transmitter feed).
 
it s easily found online... it sounds quite like Radio 5 UK,sports bla-bla!

Flysat do seem to list a few of these very low symbol rate radio transponders though, like the ones on 8°W. Of those Bel-RTL/Radio Contact/Maximum FM is lockable for me, but I’ve never managed to get Radio Maria or Hit West which are supposedly on adjacent frequencies.

The mystery of the Moroccan radio station on Hispasat continues :D
 
Lyngsat used to update their listings when there were two independent confirmations of a station, Flysat might not be so careful

Then again, the link below suggests the radio station had been available on Hispasat almost two years ago.

I still can't lock it, but the Linux drivers for my TBS6905 seem to have a bug where DVB-S fails to lock sometimes, which is even worse on these very low symbol rate transponders. DVB-S2 ones always lock fine, including stuff under SR1000.

From your screenshots it looks the centre frequency is 11696.014V.
 
Trust me, it's not easy to lock! Took a few attempts! It does seem the centre frequency is around 11696 rather than 11695, which is a big difference when dealing with such a low SR!

I've written about Lyngsat and Flysat somewhere on this forum but because you're give me the opportunity, I repeat what I said then.I have tried to understand,over the years,the policy of posting the information that both sites receive from contributors.
As you know,we each have criteria to judge the value of the information we take from the net,of course from these satellite sites too.There are other such information sites,each has a specific profile,different from the other,but ultimately what matters is the credibility of the information they post.If I judge from this point of view,then Lyngsat enjoys a credibility,I'll call it, of authority,because it is the oldest than FlySat and over the years he has proven that he does not want to disappoint the visitors who follow him.Plus,it's focused primarily on the same type of information since it came into being, more than twenty years ago,ie transponders with TV / radio and data,rarely.All infos posted there is a practical value for to those who want to know what transponders with TV programs have been activated.This is the public targeted in the first place,i.e. the ordinary consumer of television/radio programs.And not dxers! I emphasize this very important aspect when judging both sites.From this point of view,the two sites,although each addresses the same public,paradoxically,in fact this audience is not the same.Which has consequences on how to select and post information on each site,but also the way the owners of these sites accept the contributions they receive from different users.
From this last point of view,the policy of the two sites is much different:Lyngsat relies,more or less,on the same contributors,and checks information from two or other sources,then accepts and posts information for that consumer I was talking about above,even though it has been a long time before this information was confirmed.In order not to make mistakes,it is better to postpone posting the information received,even at the risk that other profile sites took it before.
While FlySat is much more flexible both in terms of information received and contributors.Perhaps from this point of view it should be more demanding, especially with regard to the latter.Many of them are dxers,who,why not say,even at the risk of being criticized,after making a name, no longer update the information they sent to FlySat.I can understand them,because a lot of transponders news has a short life(like any news),and FlySat, although accurate at the time of reception,posts them.
At this point,a problem arises which,paradoxically,even by contributors,which FlySat cannot solve alone,that is,the same information cannot be verified in each area for several reasons,first of all,technically and geographically.For example,even this transponder(11695 V) from 30.0W with 185-Ks rate symbol,having a different level signal in different areas,to which we add geographical conditions and unfavourable weather,is received or not by those who wish to lock it.Of course such a transponder with parameters that not every device can lock it,can induce the opinion that this does not even exist.From this reason,some contributors sent info to FlySat that this transponder has left the satellite.Which was wrong.From this reason,we have found over the last few years that FlySat posted the information according to the last contributor to confirm the existence of this transponder.Maybe that's why Lyngsat doesn't even post many transponders,like this one at 30.0 W.And there are many transponders of this kind that aren't shown on this site.
Although I am a contributor to FlySat,I do not want to be believed to be pro domo in what I said above,but I can say that those interested,especially the dxers,in the continuous changes of transponders on the satellites,must take this site into account.Actually, both Lyngsat and FlySat are alternative sources of information for each of us,whether we are a tv/radio programme consumer, or enthusiast.We are longer in the 90s when there were only Satcox and Lyngsat.Luckily,with a single click,we can visit them...

Thanks . I tend only use Lyngsat, more out of nostalgia than anything since the information on there used to include local earth stations from my past.

I will try tomorrow with the larger dish that is serviceable, the 8008 and the revised frequency mentioned for the best chance of catching.

Without the discussion deviating from the topic,you brought an example that emphasizes,if any,how difficult it is to be able to confirm or deny an information that you send to satellite sites.I ask,more rhetorically,how many of those who want to get a transponder posted on FlySat manage to lock these parameters so demanding,at least for many users,if they do not have devices,(big) antenna and favorable geographical position,as we find,say,at 8.W?This does not mean that the information sent on these sites should not be (re)checked,first of all by the respective sites.But this aspect,we must admit does not interest many users,and many satellite sites do not even complicate to post them.Only a minority of enthusiasts have material possibilities and time to check information posted.
And there is another aspect,a subjective one,which is related to these contributors,namely,how much more are they interested in feeding up to update the informations they send on this sites,for which they are not paid?They are rewarded only symbolically,i.e. they become known,then give up checking if the information sent once is still valid.And that's how old information remain, which is no longer up to date,and which attracts,as usual,criticism/blame from users for that site.

TBS6983, XMW 9215HF LNB with 'recycled' Inverto Saorsat feedhorn

Radio Immac.

Reception of this low SR today on the Triax 88 is usually a good bellwether of how well the other channels on 16E Ka lock, but several of them are distinctly underperforming. Typical of the Ka bands.

Audio about eight seconds ahead of the tunein stream if the info helps somebody.
 
Hmmm, the latest driver revision in HD51 does not lock this low SR, such a pity!

Not managed Tendance Ouest or Radio Maria yet, but I finally managed to lock 8W 12620.718V with SR 468 (Hit West/Océane FM/Radio Cristal) today. The PMT doesn’t seem to include the PID for the AAC audio on these ones, so I had to edit the database in TVHeadend to be able to hear them.

There seems to be a fourth stream not listed on Flysat (401) on this one, so I’ll try and work out what station it is. Probably Cocktail FM as that’s the other local radio station in the Hitwest group.
 
Had the 4th stream on 401 scanned in as 'HIT WEST DE LA ROCHELLE' for some time now, I presume it's still the same station but I suppose it could have changed by now.
