Advice Needed Receivers with the lowest Symbol Rate?

Lowest symbol rate transponders found & working with the TM5502HD & 5302HD
The Symbol rate range on these receivers is 700 to 45,000

Intelsat 14 @ 45° west
11605 H 988 2/3 DVB-S/MPEG-2 China Radio International

Hispasat 30W-6 @ 30° west
11484 H 767 7/8 DVB-S/QPSK Data

Eutelsat 8 West B @ 8° West
12620 V 890 1/2 DVB-S/QPSK Contact Radio France

Some of the other receivers in my collection that can go lower than 1000 S/R but only if the receivers Blind Scan can find it,
If you try to add lower than 1000s/r on these receivers you will get an error message "Invalid symbol rate Try again !!"

TM6900HD Super+ & TM6902HD
The Symbol rate range on these receivers is 800 to 45,000

William,

Did your TM-5302 and TM-5502 find those low symbol rates on a blind scan or was it a manual scan?

I'm sorry I have to post again some pictures with the low symbol rate on DM920 4K,but I didn't find them on one of the topic. But I think it's worth knowing that the DM920 4k model with the Si2166D tuner is the best tuner for locking low symbol rate.I don't think there's another reciever to do that at present. If you know of this, let's post here.

William,

Did your TM-5302 and TM-5502 find those low symbol rates on a blind scan or was it a manual scan?

I only had to add the one on Hispasat 30W-6 the rest of them were in the data base & found by the Blind Scan.

No tuner finds all low symbol rates on auto search. Also at the card dvbs you have to search them manually.

Looking forward to the results.

First receiver on test, Elanvision 8000S. Well over ten years old and in daily use. Utterly reliable even though the wife owns the remote control.

Lowest transponder I can catch so far is from Turksat (Karnaval at 10.981 H, symbol rate is 1666). No trouble catching the radio stations at all.

Now looking for something lower to try.

The SatCatchers from around 2004 (Voyager 2 and 3) can also get down to 1666 and probably lower, but the user function to run below 1000 has been disabled.

Same tuner as Mutant HD51, I'm going to transmit some video with some really low SR's over the next week or so, I'll see how low I can get it to lock.

I think the AZBox Premium+ goes down to 600 s/r I will have to find it & let you know,
Not so sure about the SpiderboxHD9000 so I will check this as well.

When I get home, I will test the Octagon SF8008 plus the Hellobox's

If you are able to, bypass the DiSEqC motor as the internal circuitry is likely to cause corruption of low SR signals.

I've managed to find a Protek 9600 and a Techsan unit (no idea of model) in a suitcase. Will try them tomorrow.

I still have the Humax 5400 and a Dreambox 7200 sitting in the lounge doing not a lot (and there is also an Echostar 3000 which may be functional)

I don't use a a diseqc motor, even my V Box is standalone...

I have found V-boxes even worse, the circuitry inside is normally a three way connection with no electrical biasing.

Some are worse than others, the one with the board that's separate to the main PCB is quite bad, my "Technomate" VBOX is a later version with the bias T on the main board, I don't see any signal loss with it. However I don't really use the DiSEqC control with it and mainly the remote.

But my feed to the dish does not touch the V Box, totally standalone just feeding the Venture.

Silabs 2166D is an exceptional tuner, if only all manufacturers that have this tuner supported it as well as Dreambox does....

The 2166D is the demodulator IC, the tuner is another kettle of fish.

Though you have identified the other issue, that of the compatibility and the quality - ie price - of zero IF devices, the quest for size and minimal power consumption detracts from many parameters that would aid low interference throughput.

Oh well, if you wanna get that technical, indeed RT270 is the tuner, the user sees Si2166D as the tuner description.
So far the best support for this demodulator/tuner combo is given by Dream Multimedia. I don't know if SF8008 supports it correctly also...
