hi all,

i had a blade 7000s pre set up for me and have recently decided to update to a vu duo purchased from hong kong.

ive been on the idiots guide on the pimps site and have managed to do everything except the motorised dish bit as mine is static.

i have some questions i hope you can help with

1. how do you set the time/date, mines stuck in 1970!

2. what should i choose for tuner configuration?
i have a single static dish with 2 cables coming into the house. the manual only shows 1 dish with 1 cable, or 2 dish 2 cable.
not sure what to choose on first setup, (single,toneburst,diseqc etc) i have it set at tuner a:single, eutelsat 28a/astra 1n/2a/2b 28 east and
tuner b: astra 1h/1kr/1l/1m/2c 19.2 east eutelsat 16a 16 east
i have scanned again and again and i cant find a single service! i understand i need to go to 28.2 east rather than 28 but i cant find that option, all i want is some free to air channels!

3. ive installed cccam, how do i put in the server info? on the blade i just put 9991 and was straight there, 9991 doesnt work with the vu.

4. what is zapping?

All the information you require to set up a tuner and diseqc switch is there to be read by you on this self help forum by using the search utility, but as per the rules of the forum nobody will help you to set up a commercial share.
 
thanks for the reply, the help stuff is a bit overwhelming which is why 3 days on i stilldont have any free to air channels. the help says to tune to 28.2 east but ive been through the sat listings and the closest ive found is 28east but that gives me 0 channels, is anyone allowed to give advice on this or a relevant link?

Well if you have two fixed feeds from an Astra 28.2 dish, it will cover all birds co-located. Perhaps you could supply some screen shots of the satellites setup menus, as if the connections were working on the previous receiver, they should work on the new one.
 
i know how to do screen shots on a pc, but not on this duo.
i understand it 'should' work as i can reattach the blade and it works immediately so i know its not the dish or cables. if i look on satfinder there are 3 bars, snr=0 (signal to noise ratio?) ,agc=99% i dont know what this is and ber=0. there are two options, manual and predefined transponder(<--is this a tuner?) if i set it to predefined and go out then back, it reverts to manual,is there a way to make it stick predefined as i dont know what to put in for manual(fec,polarization etc)?

If it is from Hong Kong it is a clone so don't expect it to work with any of the up-to-date images.
 
is there a way to tell? i got it from aliexpress,it didnt say clone anywhere on the webpage.

If it has got a serial cable adaptor thingy with it I'd be almost certain it is a clone, but if you want to know for sure load the latest driver update from Vu+ and see if it turns into a doorstop.
 
You should also be able to tell by the price you paid, if you paid around £285-£295, then it's probably genuine, if you paid around £215, then it's a clone, unless you got a great deal or have been conned.
 
it cost £170 with no h.d in it, so im sending it back, the front panel isnt working at all either!(i set it to max brightness), thanks everyone for the heads up.
