Satellite connection failing at startup

My Satellite Setup
Sky Dish. Freesat recording box. Samsung tv
My Location
Felixstowe. UK
Recently, my Freesat HD box has to reconnect to my satellite each time I turn it on. Some times it doesn't want to connect to the internet either. After a short period it all connects up and works as it should.
I've tried all connections.
I've tried resetting the Freesat box
I can't find the problem.
How do I solve this?
 
I don’t think so. It’s been doing it for some months now.
 
Exactly which model of Freesat box is it?

If it's a venerable Humax, I would suspect failing electrolytic capacitors in its Power Supply circuitry.

It seems this connecting to satellite faff is by design, allegedly to do with power saving. I presume what it is doing is updating the EPG, why this can't be done in the background I don't know.

My suggestion would be to set recordings (radio channels would not use much space) that cover the times just before & after you would usually switch the box on. Hopefully this will mean the box is ready to go when you want to use it.
 
Your symptoms are normal for the 4K boxes, it is just an issue that they don't seem to either want to fix or can't fix.

Everytime on startup it has to setup the dish and does not detect the internet connection which are schoolboy errors when it comes to software(firmware) and these settings should be saved and only updated when a change is flagged up.

As for that EPG it is a total joke, you access the guide and nothing is shown, channels are shown with no associated data. You exit the guide and return when you now get some information but you can find as you scroll down you find a section still completely blank.
