Schematic For Echostar AD3000ip Power Supply

Thanks Llew for the response. I have check that and looks well and have place a fan inside as many on the forum says.but the fan never turn off when the box is turned off.I was expecting the fan to go off when the box is turn off.
 
If you mean when in standby, I think the 12V supply is maintained, with other supplies shut down. So if your fan is run off the 12V line, it will still operate.

It'll have to operate from one of the shutdown supplies. I'll look into it when I have mine opened up.

Chuckiman, if your fan is a small one that only takes little current, it should work quite happily off the main 5V supply (5VD as marked on connector CN2), just a little more slowly. I had one running like that when I had one fitted. This will stop running on standby.

Alternatively, you could connect it to the +21V supply (CN8 of the connector) in series with a resistor. I tested it out using one of 100 ohms, and that dropped the voltage down to ~12V. The exact resistor value depends on what current your fan is rated at. Mine is .15A, but in fact only takes 0.1A, so -

Voltage drop needed =9V

R=Voltage to drop/0.1A = 9V/0.1A = 90 ohms. 100 ohms resistor near enough.

If your fan has a significantly different current rating, just replace the current value in the formula above to find the resistor value needed.

Hi Llew I have open my box and made some measurements on the voltages.I will like to ask ,used multimeter and measured AC and DC voltages on the transistors.should i have AC voltages on DC circuits ?.On the secondary side i have been able to measure AC voltages on every point.At the 30v i have 64AC and 30DC,at 21v i have 54AC and 25DC,at 8v i have 30AC and 14DC and on the 5v i have 11AC and 5DC. Am i to have all this AC after all these diode D6,D7,D8,D9 and D10?.because am having them.Help please .may be that is why it heat up on standby?
 
I'm surprised your receiver is working at all if those readings are correct. Wihout checking with an oscilloscope, you seem to have a huge AC ripple on your lines.
I suspect the electrolytic capacitors coming off of D6,7,8,9 and 10 have failed. I would replace all of those as a matter of urgency.
 
Thanks Llew for the reply. am also shock that the box keeps on working i can say fine if not for the heating. Its almost 10PM here now so am going to try to work on it tomorrow.I will check am sue i have some electrolytic capacitors an change the and see what it give.
 
OK. A lot of work, but they are always suspect on old Echostars.

Hi Llew I have solve the problem with the standby. Q2 was the fault,it was not turning off Q5 which control the 30 volt outputs of the power supply.now i have two fans connected one for my DB. cam and the other for the power supply and the work fine. They go off when i put the box on standby.I have not still solve the problem with AC voltages,i am going to work on that when i get all the needed capacitors.I want to ask if any idea why the clock is not working? it has not work for a long long time now.

What problem do you have with the clock? Is it not showing the time in standby?
 
The clock is not working.Stays at 00:00 .
 
Strange. Does it show the correct time in the Local Time Setting menu and the Current Date & Time in the VCR Timer menu?
