Star Trek Continues ..

Oh, the many books and deigns created by the original creators and designers who worked on Star Trek & it's spinoffs that were created over the past 50 years, that's how... :)

If its not on screen its not canon to me.

A lot of the designs from the books were used on screen as part of computer displays, so, they were on screen, so therefore become "canon", the only time that "Discovery" abomination made it to the screen originally was as an in-joke in The Search for Spock, where the Maquette of the proposed Phase II Enterprise was sat in the background inside of Spacedock, as a joke, because it was a terrible design for a Star Trek ship, and still is today.

Making assumptions on its final look before you've even seen the show?

I don't care what the ship looks like as long as the stories are good.

Did you watch the trailers on IMDB? It's bloody awful...

I have and don't like it but I know that's not the final design. I'm not sure ship design is what's going to make or break this show.

Plus this is set at a time when they may of been experimenting with multiple ideas of ship designs from all over the Federation.

I always liked the nod to the Constitution Class bridge design in the Andorian bridge on Enteprise and them firing blue phasers like the Connie, clearly trying to say somethings were incorporated.

Saying that the theme to Enterprise may of broken that show.

Enterprise was in my opinion a poor spin off, off the Star Trek legacy.

No where near to the original series, tng, or ds9.

But the continues series is pretty dam close to the whole concept, and I throughly enjoyed them.

True there, but I'd rather watch Enteprise than Voyager which I have not even seen every episode.

Do I spy a John De Lancie there? Hmm, wonder if he's playing Q or something entirely different........

JDL definitely is not Q in this one, it's a very good storyline, and well-written, with a few nice jokes here and there (particularly the "You'll never get me in one of those things!" line at the beginning!!!), very different and unique, it's what I've come to like about STC, they really are continuing the 5 year mission, I'm sure the great bird of the galaxy would be pleased... :)

I watched the first 2 episodes yesterday and really quite enjoyed it, I think it's important with these type of shows to go in with a very open mind.

Before watching them I had read some seriously negative reviews, in particular on IMDB. However I am glad I ignored them and watched them for myself, not entirely sure what people were expecting.

I will definitely watch the rest of them each week.

'nuff of that, more of this:

Nice "full circle" story too... :)
