Via Box / Funcard?

Hi, i have a humie 5400 but my M8 in spain is wondering if its pos to use his via box or will he have to get another rec ? If he needs another would the hummie be ok,using fun cards and if so how often do the codes change?

daily card update for the hummy except weekends
not sure if a selfupdateing card will work on his via box
i think you have to get the boxkey to use a fun auto card
