hi after updating my receiver it restated itself ten mins later then got stuck on OpenATV slash screen, so i tried to reflash it however its stuck on flashing image. iv tried flashing with Vu+ default image, OpenATV & Open Blackhole all do the same. i have tried using the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool & still no joy. how can i fix this problem & recover my receiver ? everything was fine until todays update.

thanks in advance

Try a different USB stick, I have had a few stop working, yet some cheap, 8GB, and 16GB, always seem to work.
If you have anything else, attached to the receiver, by USB, then remove them, until after the image has finished flashing.

hi i have ordered a Kingston 8GB USB stick. other USB devices i have removed. anything else i can try in mean time while waiting for new USB stick ?

any other USB drives that are known to work ? only 8GB Kingston i could find (which i have ordered) is on eBay if i know of one that will work off Amazon (faster delivery) i'l order one.

this is one i have coming from eBay:

thanks mate

ps tbh im not very impressed with this receiver nothing but problems the turners are complete rubbish for weak stuff, constant tune failed even on strong satellites it doesnt like & has issues locking channels on Thor. having to constantly tune to certain channels then back again to get it to 'kick in' is pretty annoying, now this problem.

Have you any hdd connected to your box? If so, disconnect all possible USB or internal drive, then try again to flash openatv image.
I had exactly the same problem in my Duo 4K SE. A WD drive was installed on the caddy positioned on the receiver back panel. I removed my hdd and all worked fine. After the box was recovered I connected my hdd again and it was all ok. So try this.

hi mate thanks for the suggestion. iv already tried removing my SSD to flash, makes no difference

The USB flashing problem used to happen with me, until I got hold of 2 older Toshiba USB sticks, 1x 8GB, 1x 16GB, which have worked for years.
I do have to unplug my USB attached keyboard, until the initial flashing procedure has completed, but apart from that I haven't experienced any other problems.

thanks for that. what model is the 8GB one so i can order one ? i ordered the Kingston cuz a few guides online say to use Kingston 8GB but tbh i dont care what drive it is, aslong as i can recover my receiver

ok thanks. hope the Kingston works. will have to take my other receiver out of bedroom & put in livingroom until it comes

just an update iv recoverd it Open BH is now installed & its currently scanning. the Kingston 8GB USB drive worked. Open ATV wouldnt install tho the drive simply boots as if no drive is present. i like Open ATV & have been using it for years. is ashame i cant use it on the VU+ now. its working tho which is the main thing. thanks for the help

Very strange... why it works with OpenBH and not with Openatv?
As you have a working box now, make a good backup of your new image (full backup, not only settings or channel list). Then try to install Openatv again, if you have a working USB drive I believe that it could work starting from a now recovered box.

The latest OpenBh has the multiboot option, for 4K receivers, allowing you to run other images, like openATV, alongside OpenBh.
Personally I prefer openBh, over other images I've tried.

hi iv already tried that & its as if Open ATV isint there, it just boots as normal. yes i have it working with OpenBH i tried the default Vu+ image first & that installed ok too

i like Open ATV been using for years but i have noticed the failed to tune problem that was present in Open ATV has gone in OpenBH

the tuners are way more sensitive using OpenBH for example with Open ATV 45°W was completely missed now coming in well, even weak stuff on 8°W & Nilesat is coming in. strange how the tuners are way less sensitive using Open ATV
