Which is the best Sci Fi series...Past and Present

BC - You are a few years older than me, but not bymuch

No flea pits in our town (Londons a faitr train ride away) but there were plenty of mature content mags in boxes dumped in the undergrowth of the local woods for some reason

No pervs that I could see (maybe this area was lucky) but there were many stories about certain teachers at the school

G Hopper, when the NETS fully connected with Camera interface`s in all homes, (you`ll see a few PERVES ON HERE, hehe

Star Trek (original) gets my vote. In the early ones the set wasn't great, but still a good show.

How would you know what any other class M planet looks like, they could have an abundance of cardboard backdrops, papier mache boulders, poinsonous dart spitting plant lookalikes. And the natives might all be humanoid in form wearing dubious make up ?

Hi,

Difficult choice....

Like most of the stuff to choose from, but decided on Doctor Who :D.

Had many hour glue'd to the screen with that one...

CHeers,
Cor.

Gotta say that Dr Who was my favourite at that time and certainly ranks among the best Cor. I'm sure there are a lot of other people who think the same, even though the votes do not necessarily echo that. :)

Our local video store has been getting shot of the older titles to make room for more DVDs

Just picked up a couple of tapes of the Gerry Anderson series UFO, each with two episodes of the 45 minute programmes on them. And they are virtually unplayed

My Saturday evening sorted then !

It has to be the X-Files, but for a laugh Red Dwarf
New boy Rob

Welcome Rob.

Did you cast your vote in the poll at the top?

As a kid i rated Lost in Space....(long time ago)...for a laugh Red Dwarf.....adventure has to go to Startrek.

Yes, I've certainly got an affection for Star Trek and Lost in space was a fun series Waverider and there are several other series in the list which I loved at the time they were televised.

For me Babylon 5 is still the best though, it was a little bit gritty, which in my view made it more watchable and was able to identify more with the characters.

i already voted for "quatermass" & i no longer watch sci-fi except by accident as todays episodes mostly bore me,at 78 i am a cynical bast...d at the best of times , but put me in front of buggs bunny ,daffy duck or any of the disney gang of my youth &
i am back in my second childhood.rwabyr.birdbrayne.

i went for lost in space, made me laugh that might explain why i like galaxy quest & marrs attack.......also not a sci fi series but as i was thinking back to tv i used to watch anyone remember tales of the golden monkey? maybe the next poll, weird series!

My favorite is listening to Waverider going on about Chelski winning the Premiership.
That's definitely sci-fi. O-Ha O-Ha O-Ha

Yes, but it isn't a Sci-Fi series Rob, it's a comedy special. ;)

Back to the thread though..........@ s*t*a*r*m*a*n, I have to say that in its time it was great, but I think some series since have broken more ground, my favourite by some way is still B5.

Definitely fiction, and I support them

Have to agree with Rob on Quatermass and the Pit - the Hammer version in colour - scared witless as a kid

The other film I would make time for no matter what would be First Men In the Moon

Don't think I remember that one CH, about what year was ti?

A thought occurs to me...

As it's a SCI FI poll perhaps we should make it Past, Present or Future?
