Hi,

I am in the South of France pointing my large dish to the Astra satalitte 2E 28.2 - I can pick up all ITV channels except ITV3 & ITV4
I can get ITV+1+2+3 & +4 But not ITV3 or ITV4. I can get ITV 2,3 & 4 HD but my sky HD box can not play these HD feeds for viewing

I have scanned and used the following TP below, but I am completly stumped. has anyone else had this problem as I belive that since the skybox has found all the UK and many more channels, I would expect to find ITV3 & ITV4, I am now forced to watcch + channels one hour late.

Frequency: 10891 MHz
Polarisation: Horizontal
Symbol Rate: 22000 kS/s
FEC: 5/6
Standard: DVB-S
Modulation: QPSK

Thanks

SD "real time" versions are no longer transmitted.

Many SD services have been and will be withdrawn.

This is what I did below, and I get no signal found.

Frequency: 11068 MHz
Polarisation: V
Symbol Rate: 23000 kS/s
FEC: 5/6
Standard: DVB-S
Modulation: QPSK

I have the old skybox HD
Model number R011.075.59.17P
Network version 1.03

I am not at all sure why I can not find ITV3 & ITV4
Ps I am not looking for ITV HD feeds as this box does not like ITV HD feeds (BBC HD is fine )

Well that would eplain it. I was hoping some stray feed was still hanging around, but it appears not.

The HD version is on that frequency
11068 V
23000 3/4
DVB-S2/8PSK

The Sky box 'finds' ITV 3 & 4 HD because it downloads the whole channel list from a different transponder which you can receive. As Lazarus said, ITV 3 & 4 SD are no longer broadcast from 28.2°E. Don't be surprised if the other ITV channels go HD-only or are moved to DVB-S2 transponders (which can be more difficult to receive as you have found with ITV 3 & 4 HD) in the near future.

Yes, I am reluctantly now understanding that this will obviously be happening in time, I am glad I came here for advice because, I was wasting a lot of time and energy looking for something that no longer exists.

ITV 3 & 4 in SD closed a few weeks ago. Bizarrely the +1's stayed!

All the remaining ITV SD channels will be closing in the not too distant future.

Keep an eye on this thread - I update the first post sporadically when something interesting or important happens

You'll find that a lot of the American stuff (dross) on TF1, France 2, M6 etc has the original English-language audio on the second/third track via the terrestrial service.

I quickly worked out that you can get lucky, if you select the audio menu on the remote and you can find English if you cycle through the other two audio options. well I am off to meet my dutch freinds for a drink.

Thanks for all the contributions, they have all been very welcome.

I mentioned Arte because it s like BBC4 but 24H a day & films are available in "VO" version originale,ie English when it s made in English.
Plus it has a good "i-player" free of charge when you're in France!
arte.tv is the place ARTE - La plateforme culturelle européenne | Direct, replay et +

Additionally , most series shown on various French TV channels "la TNT" have a double sound channel,English always the 2nd one, adjustable via remote.
Then ,it depend s on what you want to watch. BBC world,CNN and Sky news are easy to get . I could do without TF1(=ITV) when i m on holidays...The sun will help soon!
Usually,BBC channels in HD come back some time in June/july!

what causes this change? Is it better at night / daytime?

It's been like that for years. Either it s seasonal or just the BBC who decides to spend less energy on March to july than from July to March...
Strangely, the SD channels surviving on Astra 2's UK beam, are just as strong as before March 12,when the BBC has lost 3/4 of their stamina.
And they only transmit HD which makes reception more fiddly when you get further from the White Cliffs.
Maps of this were drawn some 10 years ago showing the areas of good/bad reception of UK tv

Well,it fluctuates, you get 50 minutes of Masterchef and whoops,it vanishes...for 5 minutes or two weeks!

Just a thought, I know this is not really the place to raise this, but a VPN may well solve my problem.
