Jaeger 1224 restoration

at one point i was thinking of using a slide hammer dent puller but needed an adaptor so tried heating it and hammering from the other side. need to get back on it hopefully tomorrow.
 
Seriously? No point in hogging on something that may be unobtanium.

the 3 claw puller was junk, 2 many weak parts and pain to get it aligned due to the main mount being offset. In the end i just tapped the side of the plate with bolts in place back and forth and it eventully moved so you couldnt see through the pin hole. I scribed the underside shaft to make sure it wasnt turning the whole mechanism.
 
will have to re tap the pin. that took way more force to knock out that the top plate.
 
Dusted off the motor, finally got the casing off to get to the internals. The bottom of the exposed shaft needed the rust sanding off and greasing, it then slid through the bottom bearing not bother. The shaft near the centre metal gear also has surface rust that will need removing before that can slide free. The bearings are still well greased. The 1 i have removed moves freely just not as smooth as it should though so will get a soak in some solvent degreaser once i get the other 1 out or does anyone know if they are available at reasonable prices?open.jog.jpgshim2.jpgbear2.jpg
 
removed the motor, had to cut 1 of the wires, will solder back in place once its time to reassemble. Removed the top plate housing the smaller cogs, numbered them as im gauranteed to forget what sequence they go back in. Now stuck again as i have nothing that fits these Allen boltsallens.jpg
 
they push the worm screw against the gear wheel, as you said to remove some play from the motor
I tried on mine and when I tightened the screw the mA consumption increased

Hope removing them allows the assemble it's holding in place to be removed as it's preventing the main shaft from being removed as it hangs over the large metal cog. I will use a marker to tighten them back up to hopefully the same tension
 
count the turns and mark the start with the marker, do not remove the screws

That bearing puller that was supposed to ease the top plate of was useless for that but it was perfect for removing the bearing from the main shaft. At the point now were i just need to clean everything up and reassemble. Need to price up some local powder coating shops. Quite a few alloy wheel powder coating places to call. Need to get some new nuts and bolts also. Its took a while, good to be at the point now that there is no more stripping down.

been that long since i started taking this apart i wasnt sure if id missed anything. hopefully the next time i post these they have a nice powercoat on them.parts1224.webp
