28e levels in south france

Not too sure of my lattitude, Sweden/ norway, but I seem to have lost BBC2 and cebeis.BBC 4. I had them no problems up to a week ago. Suddenly vanished. 62 north. is it just me or has my dish moved.

Seems strange that you have lost them?

I'm in Motala and getting the channels you mention at about 12,2 - 12,5 dB with an 1,8 m Channel Master antenna. No change in strength here.

From here, practically all UK transponders at 12db, except 11023H at 7.8 db (not locked)

depends on time of the day...fine now in the morning,
weakens ,then vanishes when night (and interesting programs) come!!

the main point is,how far are you from the edge of the footpath covered by the UK beam . You are North I am south,sort of symmetrical versus the epicentre of the said footpath.

however ,UK beam channels may come in and out,just have a look at eastenders time,see if its there or not...
bbc 3 & 4 are already hiding at night.

I think the main problem is i am on the Swe/ nor , border. all the foot prints show zero signal here. When i lived in Stockholm i had no probs with a 1.5. When i first moved to Alvdalen, i had even more signal. 12 years ago. Tied a dish to a tree. Watched tv, for first few months. Wernt on holoiday, one summer, came back, nothing. Even went to a 2,5 meter. BBC, bo ch4 or 5. Ended up with a 4.5. Took 2 months to find a signal. succh a narrow beam it changes from day to night.
Then a month ago, lost BBC4. always a bit dodgy, Changed to an Octogon from a Technomate. bugger all. BBC1,3, parliament and news. ,and all the 5 plus ITV4. Seem to have lost Yestrday?. I watch MASH many evenings, so no problem.

i have a 1.2 ground mount ch master with ch feed horn, in Boussac dep 23 im a little bit north but can confirm i get all the hd ch on a sky box its the small one multi room and works great while im in the caravan

So,a 120 cm in Creuse gets you constant reception of ALL bbc channels (plus the commercial ones) ALL YEAR ROUND?
or do you lose them around Wimbledon time?
which happens to me...the point is,how do i make a millimetric tuning of my dish? Yougot the best solution,easy to handle. Mine is up on a higher art of the house.Doyou notice a fifference re 28.2/28.5?
Is channel 5 stronger than bbc4?

Back in France (40 km north of Nice\Cannes) for the summer, got the 140x130 dish back up + a quick alignment, sats are still there, trees have not grown.

Not fantastic levels, but ok. Will later do the fine adjustments with phone app \ wifi, to try to squeeze out a dB or 2 for the most important channels. & 19e addon lnb giving excellent levels.

Dish, pole & cabling in fine shape. So very happy to have a good spot for the dish at ground level, no ladders, everything easy.

Yes, it's always nice to work on a dish at ground level, especially when trying to do fine adjustments.

Correction,I lose them end of March &recover them around Wimbledon/Glastonbury

Att rodscha, signature says 130 dish, am supposing it's a Famaval offset, is it a 'real' 130 (approx 130 x 140), or (as perceived by the lnb), a 120 (120 x 130) ? Just to clarify possible causes of less than ideal reception.

Assuming the sat lobe is "maybe more or less" equal in our 2 locations (quite similar distance for UK), a 120 would surely give a few crucial dB's less than my 130 (x140) which deals fine with BBC 1-2-3-4, with some dB's weather\variation margin. BBC News (2G) is weaker, am losing that one part of the day. If it's a real 130, then I'd believe it's all up to finetuning (mm's), a good lnb + perseverance to squeeze most of the UK's out of it.

As things stand here after all the changes to HD etc, I'd ideally would have needed something like a a 150 cm Gibertini if really wanting to catch everything, with some margin, year round. Ftm, the old 130x140 will do.

Hello! My dish is a 120... I'm more ready to lose bbc3&4 in summer for 2 months ,than re starting a search,order and re-installation of a different dish. I d like to be sure the technical situation won t change again,as it has so many times.

I seem to get ITV1 better than BBC1....any technical reason for this?
I know Channel 5 (and its offshoots) has a different modulation making it easier to receive.

ITV use a slightly better FEC for weaker reception.

In general...
BBC and Ch 4 needs 7.9dB signal to lock
ITV needs 6.6dB
Ch 5 needs 4.4dB
