Anyone knows how do these stack up against the 1.2M CM?

I've got one and am tidying it all up. Give it a lick of paint and then ready to move on to a new home.

Decent dish but never knew how it was regarded vs a CM ?
 
It is a Prodelin reflector with three arms, however the feed clamp is designed to work with a 22mm diameter feed. It will need modifying for a universal LNBF

That 22mm feed sounds right.

Are the Prodelin's good ?

I've got one and was thinking of saving it or letting it go. It needs some minor work on the ground mount feet.

Given it a general clean down and a lick of paint otherwise on the ground and polar mount. The dishface needs a repaint and not sure what would be good to use on fibreglass
 
Prodelins can be very good, though check there is no warpage on the reflector.

THe main issues with the smaller dishes is an inability to easily convert them to motorised, which is why they partnered with Echostar (on the 1m reflector).

Is yours with a polarmount ?

Yes on Polar Mount and Ground Mount.

No warpage from what I can see. Haven't strung it to check but all looks good to the eye.

Any idea how to remove the rusted bolts affixing the dish to the polar mount?

Some of them are not budging. I've tried to hammer them gently but they're not having it. I was thinking of impact wrench but not sure if that's a good idea !

I will get some pics up.

Once the dish face cleans up with a nice lick paint it should look a right treat. The metal work I might get a local fabricator or garage to help out with.

Heat (blowtorch) and some diesel to pour onto the cooling parts.
 
Project to tidy it up I think !

Thankless task as I doubt there's a market for these size dishes now

OK, now there are pictures you can heat up the nuts from behind the two hangers, but not too much
 
I left them to soak over night with WD40 and tried hammering them but nothing.

They are coach bolts so there is no internal thread, just seems to be corrosion and bonded to the fibreglass somehow.

A few came out easy enough but the rest are total pigs.

Any idea what's the best paint to use for the dish?
 
Both bolt and nuts look to be undone with the correct spanners (imperial 5/16ths from memory), use 6 and not 12 point if you have sockets

Tried that already, they will not budge ! Even tried socket wrench. Last resort was going to be an impact wrench but it might be too much.
 
So you have got the nuts off ?

The nuts come off and I can remove the dish off the mount.

The bolts that are stuck firm in the dish are defo stuck. They are not budging !

I think too much to force the issue will crack the dish.

If I can get them all out I will get stainless steel ones but that's a big IF at the moment.

if the reflector is off then lay it flat and drip diesel down the bolt thread end into the hole and leave for a day or so.

Afterwards you can start with the socket set from the face side.

I got the reflector off early this week and did just that with WD 40. Really soaked it one night the rear and another night from the front.

They won't budge ! Even gave them a hammering. Used a socket set from front side. They are just coach bolts so they should just normally pop out with a good hit at best.

I'm tempted to get the impact on them but at risk of damaging the reflector.

On another note, I noticed the weight of the reflector is lighter in feel than a CM1.2

I used to have Gibby 1.25m on a diseqc wayback when. That combo just about managed it weightwise but I'm sure this reflector is lighter.

That has got me thinking the Prodelin reflector with an adaptation could be a very good candidate for a Diseqc metal gear motor.
