16E feeds

SNG ID UKI-1904 P1 HD with just Bars & Tone ATM - OTOH, on-screen info with "Broadcast Anywhere, Timeline TV" "1080i50" "Hitomi Matchbox" (???:confused) but also "UHD3", so might that actually carry UHD when it goes live????

I am scanning 16E in blind mode for any new Winterwatch feeds as they seem to use 16E for this in the past. Will my little Octagon box likely pick these up in blind mode, or would I have to enter the transponders manually? I get a handful of globecast test channels etc, so I assume these are picked up in blind mode, but I'm not sure.

Blind scan would be able to find them if your dish was big enough to lock the signal however as your profile says you're using a Zone 1 Sky dish there's almost no chance you'll be able to receive feeds from 16°E.
 
Thanks Ozumo. I do get about 250 or so broadcast channels but I presume these are blasted out with a lot more power and from what you’re saying I won’t likely be able to get these backhaul feeds?
 
Yes feeds are generally, but not always, weaker than broadcast channels. You might get lucky but unless you get a larger dish I wouldn't expect you to able to receive them.

Take a look at the 16E info in @william-1's activity list from last Friday, and then at one of the websites that list channels & feeds by satellite (e.g. Lyngsat) - that should allow you to identify the correct 16E transponders to manually add & then monitor on your Rx.

That's how I recently found a couple of transponders on 36E (on my SX88+) that were transmitting feeds from the last couple of days of the Dakar Rally but didn't appear to have been reported on satelliweb.

PS: and a larger dish (even a Sky Zone 2 in place of /addition to your Zone 1) would certainly be very beneficial.

Just an FYI.

They use LiveU and IP these days, the sat feeds are backups and sometimes they haven't even bothered to turn them on, their trust in IP is obviously very good.

2020 was fantastic and I miss it.. They had 2x HD sat feeds from each host and a reverse vision, Was like 9 feeds in total I think!

They usually pop up an hour before transmission.
 
Out of curiosity: why do most feeds (that I've seen!) use relatively low (less than 10,000) SR's whereas the actual sat broadcasts use much higher (typically around 30,000) ones?

For my part, I can only surmise that these feeds are very directional, to pro-quality reception kit and are well monitored for tranmission quality, whereas the final broadcast channels are for (often) very large areas with variable reception equipment, and also that those higher rates are already established as the "norm" for such areas.
