astra 2F (channel 5) and astra 2E(BBC & channel4) still on 28.2(2F) and 28.5(2b)or not?

Today for example saw varying +/- reception on the U.K. spot beams:-
11344 H 27500 - ITV 3 HD Astra 2F - partial pixelation with 6.5 dB
11386 H 27500 - ITV 2 HD Astra 2E - NO reception

So Vital here with the Astra 2F and Astra 2E U.K. beams is the LNB skew.

...........but was good signals and reception up to the 11th May this year................seasonal event so no complaints here.

my drop was sudden 4 days ago after 2 weeks of good reception,well into may.
so,seasonal it is?
Funny it is,I get same recption as you ,at 600kms North of you... you getthe lobe I get the bottom od the main coverage area.

It was 4 days ago the extra warm weather started in the UK. Same in Spain?

Have you tried chilling the lnb to see if the burning heat is destabilising the internal oscillators (put a wet tea towel round the body of the lnb)

Confirming a few dB drop lately = stressing the dish size.
At time of posting, clear sky and a beautiful, cool evening up here in the mountains.

Some weaker freq. getting close to cut-out, f.ex. 12129v (yes, I enjoy some of the the U& stuff :O)
Stronger ones doing ok, keeping a smallish headroom, f.ex. 11344h 9.5dB, 10936v 9dB, 11386h\v 7.5dB, 10818v 8.5dB, 11306h\v 9.5dB.

this morning 8 AM, 11307 H 27500 (Ch5 bunch) has 89 quality and...0,8 db ,and it WORKS!!
Needless to saythe "better" channels are absent ,even PBS!
Euro beam as strong as ever.
hopefully other sats are received fine

^^^ Problem is, apart from the need for ultra-fine dish adjusting \ skew, choice of lnb, marginal dish sizes.
My 130 (130x140) is -just- tolerable, each year it initially needs some days of mm adjustments (yes, millimeters, at lnb position) to get those crucial last 1 or 2 dB that makes all the difference. 24\24 on all freq. but very, very small headroom for variations\rain etc. Any smaller dish, f.ex. 120 (120x130) would have been close to useless here. 150 would be perfect.

I did the milliimetric adjjustment just 10 days ago!! A great improvement indeed.
It got me back a lot of stuff..;for 5 days..;then out,just with the big heat.
So...a heat dome hinders propagation.Interesting.QED

With the levels going downwards the last few days had a go to try to hunt for the last possible residues of dB\snr :O)
Goal of keeping 12129 v alive during the normal evening level drop.

The usual -very- gentle push on the dish sides \ lnb arms made things worse = dish pointing already as good as possible, but 1 or 2 millimeter lnb skew change gave results, unbelieveable sensitive when dealing with 'close to zero signal'. Minimal improvement, but can save reception under certain conditions.

The fine-tuning hobby is part of what makes it all interesting, reclaiming a dB is like discovering a gold nugget :O)
Would be a completely impossible task without the SignalMeter app \ Enigma receiver \ wifi.

Remembering years ago when had the CM 180 in Norway, yes, excellent reception all year, but things were too easy and thus very boring :O)

Thank you.... yesternight saw a slight improvement. So,the "heat dome" ...has an influence. Do you cover your LNB to avoid heat or rain? Did that with my small(75cn) dish for 13/19E works great no variation ...ever! carton covered with white chatterton tape

^^^ Can't say I know about heat influence on levels. LNB or atmospherical ? Maybe electronics in a dark\black LNB can suffer vs a white one ? Maybe it does something, or maybe just normal sat level fluctuations at the time.

But zero doubts about the impact of raindrops on lnb cap, have lost reception with very low sat levels, a trip outside to dry it and picture is back.

Edit, was raining earlier, went out to wipe a few drops off lnb, immediate "big" :O) improvement, 12129 was moving towards loss (6.8 d, gained a dB+ securing Bangers & Cash, loving those old cars and stories.

I agree fully! weather has changed 3 times in 24 hours & reception has remained the same. Also a simple statement,the UK signal meets obstacles when leaving the UK as well as when reaching me here. So,a storm around Crystal Palace or Droitwich will affect signal ,like a storm around here will...
