Astra 2E: Central & East Europe Reports

That's because they are now on 2E or 2F Europe beam. 2A was emptied last night.
That's good news for me as I couldn't get 2A north beam now everything is great. Waiting to see what 2G will bring

...I have found that after adding a motorised ram (up/down) alongside my existing ram that adjust the satellite position (left/right) i am able to quickly get back a good signal after high wind etc . Also the adjustments are very tiny so it would be very hard to tweek it all by hand.

Could you show some pictures of your setup and explain how you did it?
I would like to do the same with my 3.1m antenna but I don't really know how to do it.

Thanks

Hi, So I just added this second ram for up/down adjustment. You need a 4 core cable for each ram. My two cable run back to my house and enter a positioner box. I only have one so I need to change the cables of each time in order tom switch from each ram.

Very interesting setup!
I need to do something similar!

I like to me these 3 satellite at 28,2-28,5e. Lots of music and movies. Recently set up a satellite Astra 2ё - not to the point yet 28,2e exactly 28,5e.I signal became better. Receiver Openbox-SH6 HD. In sunny weather, the signal on the motor antenna 1,1m
-11895 V 27500-69%
-11914 H 27500-45%
-11954 H 27500-60%
-12149 H 27500-89%
-12169 V 29500-53%
-12226 H 29500-71%
-12304 H 27500-89%
-12441 V 29500-23%-radio only scans
-12480 V 27500-31%
And most importantly, that the satellite Astra 2E my area not shines.Map better not to trust . My antenna, and LNB necessarily need to install the visor from rain and snow.

Repection of Astra2E and Astra2F in Potenza (Basilicata, Italy) , 2 June 2015 4-30 pm.
All channels in UK beam but 12442 H (BBC red button) are OK.

Do I understand your dish is 3 mt 35cm? That's a hell of a size.

I don't know if this is temporarily due to the weather but at least 11.307 H and V + 11.344 H and V from Astra 2E are receivable here in Slovenia with 120 (!) cm. Signals are on the edge between 3.2 and 3.5 db, but pointing the antenna on 28.4 E give you the non breaking picture. Here are the signals from this morning...

They are coming from 2F not 2E, but impressive. The higher FEC helps a lot to get a lock on weaker signals.

It should be peaking at 28.2E though.

Ye, you are right, it is Astra 2F, my typo. I still can believe that it is possible to receive this trp. in the long term...time will show it...
And FEC 2/3 helps to receive this 4trp even with a smaller antennas...

Within a sidelobe + the 2/3 FEC?
Something similar here, getting stable reception out of incredibly low quality levels.

Congratulations. Out of interest, is your dish pointing at 28.2 or 28.35?

Hi Everyone. I'ma very happy person tonight because a Prague based techie guy has restored me perfect quality BBC TV ,including HD, plus ITV, and C4, and all radio. Obviously he's a pro, and I'm a non techie, but I was very surprised given what I'd read here. He did three things; two were cone ted with what he said was bad set up of my 2.1m dish in the first place
- he moved the dish away from interference from a fence and lamppost
- he adjust the position of the three struts on the out-facing side of the dish (he said its really important to get their position exactly right, and mine were not
- he replaced the LNB.

he says that the footprint (sidelobe?) seems to extend about 80kms west of Prague and about 50kms east with a 2.1m dish properly set up.

if anyone wants his contact, let me know. Very reasonable prices, speaks excellent English. Also does security cameras and telco related stuff.
