I pray that our friend and the exceptional @CrazyCat is alive and well, and that he will get through the tragedy that the Ukrainian people are going through. I sincerely hope that the human and material damage suffered by Ukraine will be as little as possible.
May our Lord help Ukraine in these days and weeks. I assure you, dear Yevgheni, that all my thoughts are with you and the Ukrainian people.

ps_I hope I will be forgiven by the moderator for posting this message on this forum, but I cannot overlook what is happening to this country, which is the target of savage aggression.
Because I am concerned about our Ukrainian colleague @CrazyCat and the danger he and his fellow citizens in Kharkov are in, please accept this message of solidarity with the cause of the Ukrainian people and my concern about the fate of our mutual friend, who has helped all of us who experience the same passion for reception.
I hope we get good news from you.
 
Crazycat was still active yesterday at 21:43. According to his coordinates, he lives 65 km south of Charkiv, which is a little removed from the extreme fightings.
My sympathy goes to all people of Ukraine, especially those who are in contact with our common hobby, stay healthy and alive.
 
This is a terrible situation ! I hope our other special colleague Strannik (Yuri Filatov) is safe and fine, as he lives in Kiev.
All my support for people living there !
 
the last time I was in contact with Strannik was on 27 February, since then nothing,
and as he lives 20 km north of Kyiv (Wyschhorod) it's very close to the battle zone, it's really not a good sign.
I keep my fingers crossed for him (and of course for the others too)
 
As a Russian living in the UK, the current events in Ukraine are heartbreaking. While there is a lot of "he said, she said" going on around the facts of the "special military operation" (aka a full-blown war), it is pretty obvious that psycho-Putin has invaded his Slavic brothers through no provocation but a totally made up reasons of "threat" (from who?!?!) to Russia. I have many opinions, but I have spoken to many people in the Baltics, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia itself, where I still have friends and family. This is together with watching and reading media from Russia, Ukraine and the West to make my own conclusions.

The amount of brainwashing going on by the Russian media is mind-boggling. It's up there with North Korea where everyone is evil and Russia is heaven. Sadly, it does mean that many of the generally peace-loving Russians have fallen prey to the shite that is being fed to them - even those that I thought had brains in their heads. "Protecting Russian borders" seems to be a common parrot-phrase. Of course, with totalitarian laws, no freedom of speech and threats of long prison sentences, it is difficult to voice your opinions - even in private. I don't know how much of it is fear, indifference, ignorance or actual belief in Putin... it's difficult to judge.

Whatever the reasons, I hope this madness ends quickly and Putin is sitting in his own prison.

It is all so heartbreaking. I have family on both sides, peripheral to the conflict. The denial on the Russian side is maddening. They don't really seem to care.

As a Bulgarian living in Belgium, me too I watch and read media from Russia, Ukraine and the West.
I know the truth but it would not be politically correct to write it here.

Comments so far are appropriate and apposite, but we must remember we're still a Satellite Forum - and one with a varied International membership - that, in normal circumstances, would hesitate to welcome comment on socio-economic/political/military etc. issues.

However, these are not normal times and there seems no reason as yet to suggest discussion might best take place in more suitable Fora, but please try to remain as restrained and reasonable as hitherto. We all know that such discussions can rapidly go off the rails.

Me too. I wrote him to ask for him and wishing a peaceful Easter. He replied thanking me. Not so much but nice to hear from him, in this sad moment.
Anyway a very peaceful Easter to everybody !!
 
After the war in Israel occupies the attention of the whole world, and rightly so, we seem to have forgotten that in Ukraine, there is still an equally severe war in which innocent people are dying and being injured. That's why reading in today's paper that the Russians bombed Kharkiv, where they killed innocent people, I thought of our colleague @CrazyCat, who lives in that city.
I hope he is alive and not injured, but knowing him discreetly, I know he probably ignores his dramatic situation, even if something terrible happens.
With the same thoughts of concern and hope, I think of @Yuri Filatov, aka Strannik, the developer of IQmonitor, but all Ukrainians, who are all living the terror that Russia has unleashed since it tried to occupy this country in February 2022.
Even if he doesn't reply to this message, I wish him to know that we are thinking of him and wish him and his family complete health and peace of mind.
May the Lord above watch over them all!

Yes, it is a bit crazy when watching CNN: one war starts and the other is as if it has never existed, but that does not mean that we forget. Hopefully those responsible for the crimes against humanity in Ukraine and the middle east will pay the price.
