EUTELSAT W2M will operate 26 transponders in Ku-band and up to 32 depending on operational modes, at 16E. The satellite is planned to be launched with TELSTAR11N in October 2008 from Kourou on an Ariane 5 launcher. The fixed beam will cover Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, while a steerable beam can be re-oriented in-orbit according to market requirements.

These footprints are not official ones - they come from Tele-Satellite magazine (November 2008 edition).

The Eutelsat ones will be added when they are released.

At last the official Eutelsat W2M footprints have been made available.

Launch of W2M was rescheduled for late December 2008, with Telstar 11N being swapped for Hotbird 9.

Eutelsat W2M suffered a major power systems failure after completeion of the In Orbit Testing in January 2009. It seems the battery changing circuit failed, meaning the batteries cant be charged. Thus the craft cant be powered around the Spring & Autumnal equinoxes when the broadcast sats are elipsed and in shadow.

Eutelsat refused delivery of W2M, which is currently parked near 9E, presumably awaiting a decision on its future.

With the loss of the W2M mission this brochure is now for historical interest only.

Officially its not still available on the Eutelsat site, but if you know your way around the site you can still find it! :-rofl2

Update on this mission. - Eutelsat got W2M operational enough to get her on air. She slotted at 3.1E and is currently being used for feeds and transmission into Iran
