and it suddenly reminded me of my earliest introduction to sat tv - on 19e obvs back in the early 90s

GREEN APPLE RADIO

That and MTV Party Zone (when MTV was free)

They were the days! Now it seems so irrelevant, due to the amount of source of music and TV - back then, if you didnt have Sat TV you were VERY limited.

This is what fuelled my fire, and is why i am where i am today!!!

Wish I knew about this back then! Out in the sticks all we had were tapes that were several generation copies.

yes and was MUCH better quality than FM (radio) signals...even though it was analogue sat.

Almost all the rigs used onsite were very poorly set up, cheaply built and often using an even cheaper low power transfer to the main transmitter. Pirates calculated the main unit would be discovered at some point by the home office and confiscated.

It took years for the government to realise the commercial stations (and the independents) were failing the 'yoof' (i believe there was one DJ on Radio 1 that stated pirate radio was out of touch or something similar), and come up with a suitable licence application. Community radio followed.

From 1985

and 1987

i remember KISS FM when it was a pirate radio station - soooo much better.

Laser 558 was a fav of mine.

I was dealing with a couple of stations in the early 80's, mainly running tapes and transmitter reconnaisance, but I did get involved with the odd studio work in the early 90's, the wierdest - and worst paying -an outlet in Chiswick (Power Road ?).

KISSTORY is useless as well. BTW were you and another person called manik responsible for this classic? ;)

the problem with kisstory as time moves on, they play less and less older stuff, and more newer (old stuff) if that makes sense.

haha - no i - but iwsh i was....it was probably made using OCTAMED on one or two Commodore Amigas.
:)

I do stream live old schoool sets from time to time but mainly uplifting trance nowdays.

you might like this set (One of my recorded sessions)

RIP Paul Walden

Clubland TV on 28.2°E is currently playing some lovely chilled mixes of 90s tracks as part of its "Normal Programmes Suspended" coverage. Long may normal programming be suspended B)

No .

Since there is respect to the Queen, there will be a number of stations dropping (not that) the jockeys for the ten days of mourning. Radio Caroline started earlier.

It may be worth putting on some large memory sticks to capture the moments over the next week or two.

Holy crap ! Clubland is unworthy of their video offerings.

Despite the GT Media box being crap with audio, their output appears to be in mono.

(It's like DAB/DAB+ all over again)
