If you record a channel, you can use another window application to capture any picture from the mpeg file that you make by recording.
I use Nero Showtime Player so check if your DVD player has the capture frame option also.

I have a Skystar2 PCI receiver connected to my dell PC, which doesn't have a serial port. The dongle for the remote is connected to USB using the BF-810 converter. Will this have any problem using my remote. And if it works this way, how do i configure it work with dvbviewer...

Hello,

I followed Big Ted's tutorial, but I have a few problems:
  • I don't have a MdPlugins directory under C:\Program Files\DVBViewer\
  • Where can I find the softcam.key file?
  • I downloaded the utility attached (fun2md.zip) but when I double-click it, I get this error message: Run-time error '339': Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
  • In the Filters directory, I don't have a SkyAVC.ax file
  • I didn't find any channels.dat from SoftCSA in the attachment
  • Where can I enable the Marfis Renderer?
  • Where can I find softcsa?
Thanks for your help!

Idiots guide to using dvbviwer

1> purchase and install dvbviewer software

2> download and install yankse in \MdPlugins subdirectory http://yankse.tforums.com/yankse/MDYankse-1-03.2- TT.zip (conax built in)

make sure subdirectory is named MDPlugins (MDP in capitals)

3> put softcam.key in the \MdPlugins subdirectory and in dvbviewer root dir (created using utility attached)

3> In the Filters directory, put regsvr32.exe (from Windows/System32), and drag and drop SkyAVC.ax to Regsvr32 to register it

4> put the channels.dat from SoftCSA (also attached) to the DvbViewer directory

5> ensure you have enabled Marfis Renderer

6> ensure you install softcsa attached in plugin directory

7> if you need ecm's they are in yankse.sid.cache in yankse zip

Off you go

Attachment: fun2md v2.1.zip
This has been downloaded 4 time(s).

Is there any chance that you Ted or some oneelse could update this tut as the version of Yankse is not obtainable ( or at least this numpty couldnt find it )and of corse some files in the tut are now not there or re named , it would also appear that in squence of instlation is different , i would get in touch with the aurthur lol but cant seem to find him
