if i am using the dual monoblocku universal lnb do i still have to set the lnb skew I'm unsure if i have to do this.
 
Skew can not be adjusted on a monoblock. You should get better reception with two separate LNBs.

AFAIK, that's not "strictly true" as you can (in most cases!) skew a monobloc by swivelling it in the clamp on the dish feedarm to get the "best signal" on ONE sat, BUT the skew for the other LNB in the monobloc for the other sat will almost certainly then be WAY OFF the optimum - "you pays your money and you makes your choice" !!!:rolleyes:

NB: should you choose to do that with a monobloc where your chosen "prime" LNB is not on the centre line of the feedarm then you would probably also have to adjust the dish elevation!

so how would you attach the two lnbs together use a t piece?
 
Which two satellites are you receiving and what dish are you using? How many receivers does the monoblock supply? Typically a multi LNB bracket and a DiSEqC 1.0 switch would replace a monoblock.
 
Most dual satellite LNB's (mono blocks also?) are set for 4 to 10 degree separation to get both satellite at once, also you would be pointing the dual LNB in-between the two satellites, so the skew on the LNB (or most likely the dish) would be set to receive both, in most cases the dish it's self is set for the correct skew, and the LNB is set to zero to the dish.

You would only need to skew an LNB if it is on a multi LNB bracket and the center LNB is fixed to zero on the dish and pointing to one satellite, the the outside LNB's would need to be correctly skewed for each satellite, or in most cases the multi LNB bracket it's self is set for the correct skew.

astra 2e and one output to the receiver i have a motor for it on the way and its currently attached to a switch marked lnb 1 also waiting for a multi lnb bracket this is on a 80cm dish

That sounds like you aren't using a monoblock? A monoblock receives signals from 2 or more separate satellites, and typically looks like this:
If you are only trying to receive one satellite then you don't need a multi LNB bracket.

For a 28.2E fixed dish in the UK, when looking from the front the cables should exit between 6 and 7 o'clock.

Well it is a monobloc and the dish is in good order too. However, can we clarify if you are trying to receive two signals from the same satellite (for which you need a twin output LNb or signals from two differing satellites?

Is it a DiSEqC switch with four inputs and one output? If so you don't need it. You need to work out which of the feed horns on the monoblock is receiving the 28.2E signal. It is possible the dish is pointing elswhere and receiving 28.2E on the offset (the one not attached to the LNB arm) LNB.

Then again if you are going to motorise then then I'd swap the monoblock for a standard universal LNB and save the hassle of faffing about with the monoblock.
 
Your question about the need for skewing:

1. When you use both LNBs in the monoblock, you optimise skew/tilt of the monoblock for both satellites that you want to receive.

2. When you use just one LNB of the monoblock, you optimize skew for the satellite you receive.
NB. With a monoblock LNB, the internal antennas sometimes have a pre-skew (especially the monoblocks for Astra satellites). You should account for that.
NB2: When you motorize your monoblock LNB, and use only the "central" LNB, normally the LNB skew is set to "zero". However that would be suboptimal for e.g. 28E, which has 7.5 degrees preskew (if I'm informed correctly). So sometimes people set the skew somewhere inbetween.

i used sat finder pro on mobile phone to check so its the astra sats in the east there are a few of them at 28 degrees but im contending with 3 birch trees trees im currently getting 63% quality and 99% signal but i get some breakup on HD channels and none on others i think im on astra 2e at moment for uk channels
 
I have removed a lot of the tree in background and a mass of branches on the birch trees im still trying to break branches off them IMG_20210426_141559187_HDR.webp
 
Looking at the photo, from the front of the dish the LNB needs to be rotated a little clockwise. I'd forget about the motor.

Normally (unless you are in a fringe reception area) the Astra satellites at 28 degrees are treated as if they are in one position. If it was your intention, there is no need for a slightly offset additional lnb to cover the sats that aren't exactly at 28 degrees.
 
i bought the motor yesterday came with a bracket cheap. While i was using the program sat finder pro i think, shows you where the arch of sat are by holding your phone up to the sky it was showing astra 2e just to the right of the birch tree thats in the center of the photo and when i stepped 1foot to right it showed it to be in the center of the clearing so i figured to install this bracket on motor to bring this dish over by 1 foot.
